| | | | Mother: Encyclopedia II - Heavenly Mother - Elaborations on the Heavenly Mother doctrineIn general, the Heavenly Mother doctrine "is a shadowy and elusive one floating around the edges of Mormon consciousness". (Wilcox at 64.) Though widely held by Mormons, the doctrine is not advertised by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Some Mormon apologetics, however, have attempted to elaborate on the doctrine, in party, by borrowing from early Hebrew theology, which arguably included a Hebrew goddess, the consort of Yahweh, variously named Asher ...

| | | | | | | Mother: Encyclopedia II - Refrigerator mother - Origins of 'refrigerator mother' theoryPsychologist Bruno Bettelheim and other mental health professionals championed the notion autism was the product of mothers who were cold, distant and rejecting, thus deprived of the chance to 'bond properly'. The theory was embraced by the medical establishment and went largely unchallenged into the mid-1960's, but its effects have lingered into the 21st century.
As early as 1943, Leo Kanner, who first identified autism, called attention to what appeared to him as a lack of parental warmth and attachment among the mothers of autistic ...

| | | | | Mother: Encyclopedia II - Queen Mother - Exceptional casesIn rare cases, the king of a nation may be divorced or a widower. If he remarries, and his second wife outlives him, but is not the mother of his successor, it is unclear what title this woman assumes, though Queen Dowager or Dowager Queen might be appropriate, in the circumstances.
Queen Noor of Jordan for example was King Hussein's fourth wife, and stepmother of current king Abdullah II. She is still referred to as Queen Noor, although rarely, and then inaccurately, as the "Queen Mother". If anything, she would be the Queen Dowager, altho ...

| | | | | Mother: Encyclopedia II - I Mother Earth - TransitionAround the end of the tour schedule for Scenery and Fish, IME shocked many fans and reporters when it announced that Edwin would be leaving the band. From that point, it was mentioned that Jag Tanna wrote the majority of the band's music (while jamming with his brother and Gordon), that Chris Tanna wrote all of the lyrics, and that Edwin was merely there to sing. This and the usual "musical differences" proved to be sore spots for the vocalist. Citing unmanageable tension, the band "mutually" agreed to part ways with Edwin. The remain ...
