Morphogenetic Fields | A Wisdom Archive on Morphogenetic Fields | | Morphogenetic Fields
Morphogenetic fields are basically non-physical blueprints that give birth to forms.
According to its founder, the biologist Rupert Sheldrake, a morphogenetic field, is an equivalent to an electromagnetic field that carries information only, not energy, and are available throughout time and space without any loss of intensity after they have been created.
Morphogenetic fields are created by the patterns of physical forms. They help guide the formation of later similar systems where a newly forming system "tunes into" a previous system by having within it a "seed" that resonates with a similar seed in the earlier form.
Morphogenetic fields can be used to describe how the human consciousness is shared. The Morphogenetic fields therefore play the main role in the idea that humanity at one point in time will go thru a dramatic collective shift in consciousness. A shift that will happen when the critical mass for a shift is reached, or in other words, when a certain number of spiritually awakened individuals are reached.

| Archives on Morphogenetic Fields | | | | Morphogenetic fields and Rupert Sheldrake Rupert Sheldrake, trained as a plant physiologist, became interested in the way that plants, and all living things, took on their form. What starts as a single cell splitting into identical copies eventually changes, with some cells taking on specific characteristics, some become leaves, some stem. Once these changes have taken place, the reverse is no longer possible, leaves cannot be changed back into stems.
At the time of his research in the late 1960s and 1970s, the reasons for this sort of development were unclear. In the 1920s, embryo regeneration and the capacity for willow shoots to grow whole new trees, were thought to imply some such fields or knowledge or memory in the environment. The later discovery of DNA appeared to offer an explanation, but since the DNA remained largely identical throughout an organism, it was not, of its own, able to explain form. It explained that a cell was human, but not, it was thought, what part of a human. It was thought at the time that mechanisms encoded in the DNA were responsible for the development of form, but the exact nature of the system remained something of a mystery.
Sheldrake instead developed a completely new theory to explain this problem, one based on a universal field encoding the "basic pattern" of an object. In Sheldrake's view, the existence of a form is itself sufficient to make it easier for that form to come to exist somewhere else. This Sheldrake called in 1973 morphogenetic field, in this view, nature may be a set not of laws, but of habits.
"The idea is that there is a kind of memory in nature. Each kind of thing has a collective memory. So, take a squirrel living in New York now. That squirrel is being influenced by all past squirrels. And how that influence moves across time, the collective squirrel-memory both for form and for instincts, is given by the process I call morphic resonance. It's a theory of collective memory throughout nature. What the memory is expressed through are the morphic fields, the fields within and around each organ ism. The memory processes are due to morphic resonance.
"Basically, morphic fields are fields of habit, and they've been set up through habits of thought, through habits of activity, and through habits of speech. Most of our culture is habitual, I mean, most of our personal life, and most of our cultural life is habitual.”
The whole idea of morphic resonance is evolutionary, but morphic resonance only gives the repetitions. It doesn't give the creativity. So evolution must involve an interplay of creativity and repetition. Creativity gives new forms, new patterns, new ideas, new art forms. And we don't know where creativity comes from. Is it inspired from above? Welling up from below? Picked up from the air? What? Creativity is a mystery wherever you encounter it, in the human realm, or in the realm of biological evolution, or of cosmic evolution." |

| | | | Robert Gilman about morphogenetic fields “Morphogenetic fields are basically non-physical blueprints that give birth to forms. Morphogenetic fields carry information only, not energy, and are available throughout time and space without any loss of intensity after they have been created. Morphogenetic fields are created by the patterns of physical forms (including such things as crystals as well as biological systems). They help guide the formation of later similar systems. And finally, a newly forming system "tunes into" a previous system by having within it a "seed" that resonates with a similar seed in the earlier form.”
"Thus, from this perspective, the DNA in the genes of a living system (like an oak tree) does not carry all the information needed to shape that system, but it can act as a "tuning seed" that tunes in the morphogenetic fields of previous systems of the same type. Morphogenetic fields are thus the repositories of what might be described as genetic habits.
"In addition, these same concepts can be used to explain some of the mysteries about human memory. In effect, our brains are not so much libraries as they are sending and receiving stations that leave a continuous trail of experience imprinted in morphogenetic fields and then "recall" previous experiences by tuning in to that trail....[thus] using morphogenetic fields as the carrier of memory implies no absolute separation between minds.
Further, it suggests that our identity is dual, like an electron that is both a particle and a wave. We have aspects that are unique and totally individual, yet at the same time much of our thought and behavior is shaped by, and participates in, and helps create transpersonal morphogenetic fields....We are thus both individuals and expressions of and creators of a group mind - like the Jungian collective unconscious, but more extensive, and in come aspects more changeable.
Because our brains contain levels (mammalian, reptilian, etc.) that connect us to other species, that group mind includes all life. We may even find, as we explore the possibilities of consciousness associated with what we know think of as non-living matter, that we are linked in consciousness to all creation. We would thus be linked to the stars not only through the chemicals in our bodies, but through our minds as well.
Accepting the idea of morphogenetic fields also opens the door to the scientific investigation of the idea that consciousness and mental processes can function without physical support. This would allow the existence of non-physical beings (gods, angels, life after death, etc.) - a subject of prime interest to most religious and spiritual traditions." |

| | | | Terence Mckenna about morphogenetic fields Terence Mckenna about morphogenetic fields
Critique_ Magazine: “Rupert Sheldrake has recently refined the theory of the morphogenetic field - a nonmaterial organizing collective memory field that affects all biological systems. This field can be envisioned as a hyperspatial information reservoir that brims and spills over into a much larger region of influence when critical mass is reached - a point referred to as morphic resonance. Do you think this morphic resonance could be regarded as a possible explanation for the phenomena of spirits and other metaphysical entities, and can the method of evoking beings from the spirit world be simply a case of cracking the morphic code? “
Terence McKenna: “That sounds right. It's something like that. If what you're trying to get at is do I think morphogenetic fields are a good thing, or do they exist, yes I think some kind of theory like that is clearly becoming necessary, and that the next great step to be taken in the intellectual conquest of nature, if you will, is a theory about how out of the class of possible things, some things actually happen.”
Critique_ Magazine: “Do you think it cold be related to the phenomena of spirits?”
Terence McKenna: “Spirits are the presence of the past, specifically expressed. When you go to ruins like Angkor Wat, or Tikal, the presence is there. You have to be pretty dull to not see how it was, where the market stalls were, the people and their animals, and the trade goods,. It's quite weird. We're only conventionally bound in the present by our linguistic assumptions, but if we can still our linguistic machinery, the mind spreads out into time and behaves in very unconventional ways.” |

| | | | Morphic fields measured scientifically
In the laboratory of Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) at Princeton University/USA, research on the topic "mind-machine-interaction" has been ongoing since the late 1970s. As far back as the late 80s, extensive studies proved that diodes with white noise might be used as an interface between man and machine.
The diodes has now been used for measuring not only the consciousness of individuals but also the
global consciousness of mankind within a study called "Global Consciousness Project".
Since 1998, about 50 diodes with white noise have been distributed worldwide. One can envisage them as a radio, which is tuned between two stations to an irregular noise. The raw data of this noise is transmitted daily from each computer, which is connected to one of these 50 diodes, to a host system at Princeton University via the Internet. The data is evaluated and tested for statistically significant abnormalities especially in the case of emotionally moving incidents, which are broadcasted worldwide via media and press.
The results have been published and indicate synchronized reaction of all diodes to incidents of worldwide interest such as the war in Iraq, Lady Diana’s funeral or the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 on the World Trade Centre in New York.
Before the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre the deflection (the red line in the illustration), fluctuates as expected around the black line, the incidence itself causes a far higher deflection than can be co-incidental, which is documented synchronically by all 50 diodes worldwide.
The morphic fields postulated by Sheldrake assume that each and every person is connected with the morphic field of mankind. This field should then also react synchronically worldwide without an incident being consciously noticed concurrently.
The fact that the global consciousness had been alert at 4 am, that is five hours before the first airplane crashed (8:45) and six and a half hours before the second airplane crashed (10:30), proves that the global consciousness also works without worldwide media and TV broadcastings. Since neither the authorities nor the media knew about this terrorist attack until 8:45 am, the global consciousness reacted from the moment the airplane highjacker had started to realise their plan! This is initial evidence for the existence of morphic fields, which obviously connect mankind even if the perception of an incident is via extrasensory perception.

 | | | Morphogenetic Fields: How to pray effectively - Action Spurred by Heart-felt Prayer A number of studies conducted by medical scientists, over a time, have tried to make a case for the salutary effect of prayer on people suffering from cardiovascular, immune, and other disorders. Herbert Benson, a Harvard Medical School professor told a conference recently that saying a few prayers can trigger the mind, lower high blood pressure and even cure infertility. However, the prayers had to be emotionally surcharged to be effective. OTHER RELEVANT RESOURCES | | | | | Consciousness What is Consciousness? What raises us above other known sentient beings is our ability to be conscious of our own consciousness. But what does this mean, scientifically?
This archive will investigate the nature of consciousness, different levels of consciousness, cosmic consciousness, collective consciousness and spirituality and consciousness.
The ultimate questions is wether consciousness can be permanently altered and the nature of enlightenment. Read more here: » Consciousness |

| | | | | Cosmic Consciousness Cosmic Consciousness was coined by the Canadian psychologist Richard M. Bucke, in his book Cosmic Consciousness 1902. He describes Cosmic Consciousness as a transpersonal mode of consciousness, an awareness of the universal mind and one's unity with it. Cosmic Consciousness prime characteristic is an awareness of the life and order in the universe.
An individual who at attains the state of Cosmic Consciousness is often described as 'Enlightened' and such a person is also said to have a sense of immortality, not of attaining it but of already having it. Burke saw this state of consciousness as the next stage in human evolution, very much as spiritualists have always seen it. Read more here: » Cosmic Consciousness |

| | | | | | The Global Oneness Celebration The Oneness Celebration during the Venus Transit of June 6-8 2004 takes place at an amazing gathering of energies in the Mayan calendar. In the age old Tzolkin calendar the venus transit has been celebrated without interruption by the Mayan people for some 2500 years.
June 6-8 is being promoted worldwide as the Global Oneness Celebration. Let us come together during this time in gatherings and prayers throughout the world to celebrate love and beauty, light and unity. Let us translate these energies into art, economics, culture, politics, education and ecology. Let us pray, each in our own way, for peace, healing, beauty, and global oneness! We will continue building the momentum on this same day for the next eight years until June 6, 2012, the date of the second venus transit.
