Christian Theological Dictionary on Miracle
A
Christian theological definition of Miracle according to CARM - The Christian
Apologetics & Research Ministry:
" Miracle A miracle is an out-of-the-ordinary direct and divine intervention in the world. Examples would be the parting of the Red Sea, Jesus walking on water, the resurrection of Lazarus, etc. Some hold that it is a violation of the natural order of physical laws. Others maintain that there is no such violation upon God's part but only a natural manifestation of His work. They are also known as powers and signs (Mark 9:39; Acts 2:22, 19:11) and mighty works (John 10:25-28). They are a manifestation of the power of God over nature (Joshua 10:121-14), animals (Num. 22:28), people (Gen. 19:26), and illness (2 Kings 5:1014). They are produced by God's power (Acts 15:12), Christ's power (Matt. 10:1), and the Holy Spirit's power (Matt. 12:28). "

Spiritual Theosophical
Dictionary on
Holy Water
Holy Water. This is one of the oldest rites practised in Egypt, and thence in Pagan Rome. It accompanied the rite of bread and wine. "Holy water was sprinkled by the Egyptian priest alike upon his gods’ images and the faithful. It was both poured and sprinkled. A brush has been found, supposed to have been used for that purpose, as at this day." (Bonwick’s Egyptian Belief.) As to the bread, "the cakes of Isis were placed upon the altar. Gliddon writes that they were ‘identical in shape with the consecrated cake of the Roman and Eastern Churches’. Melville assures us ‘the Egyptians marked this holy bread with St. Andrew’s cross’. The Presence bread was broken before being distributed by the priests to the people, and was supposed to become the flesh and blood of the Deity. The miracle was wrought by the hand of the officiating priest, who blessed the food. . . . Rouge tells us ‘the bread offerings bear the imprint of the fingers, the mark of consecration ‘." (Ibid, page 458.) (See also " Bread and Wine".)

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Dream
Interpretation - Yawning
Yawning - If you yawn in your dreams, you will search in vain for health and contentment.
- To see others yawning, foretells that you will see some of your friends in a miserable state. Sickness will prevent them from their usual labors.

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: The Biggest Miracle Is Faith Itself
Are miracles just mumbo-jumbo, products of a willing suspension of disbelief? Or are they 'real', as the faithful would have us believe? A miracle, essentially, implies a hiatus in natural causality, brought about by divine or supernatural intervention.

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Understanding Miracles
A miracle, metaphysically speaking, is never a mere coincidence - no matter how extraordinary or significant. If you miss a plane and the plane crashes, that is not a miracle unless God intervened in the natural course of events causing you to miss the flight! A miracle is a supernaturally (divinely) caused event - an event (ordinarily) different from what would have occurred in the normal ('natural') course of events. It is a divine overriding of, or interference with, the natural order.

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Don't Quit - Miracles Do Happen
Within our hearts is the child that longs for Alladin's lamp, wherefrom the genie will pop out and grant us our every wish. If we would only care to take a deeper look within ourselves, we might just find Alladin's lamp after all. Of course, the fulfillment of our wishes may not be as rapid as the twinkling of our eyes, but we may well be our own genie. Miracles happen if only we let them. The entire manifestation of existence is one big miracle. The flower, the ocean, the fact that you read this are all simple manifestations of His one eternal miracle.

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Keep the Faith - Miracles happen!
Do miracles happen? Absolutely! They happen to all kinds of people all the time. They happen regardless of religion, gender or financial position. By definition, they have a magical unexplainable mystery element that's integral to how it came to be. Whatever that force is that causes such things to happen, it is awe inspiring. Can you force miracles to happen by demanding them or by blackmailing your God with the underlying belief system that if your miracle isn't delivered then you're going to turn your back on your God? Definitely not. You can coax them by recognising them when they happen no matter how little they might be and by being thankful to whatever force you attribute them to. "Thank you for your divine intervention, whoever you are"

The Power to Move Mountains - FaithFaith
- The Power to Move Mountains
Faith
is an awesome force that can give us the power to accomplish the seemingly
impossible. There are many well-known examples of the power of faith in action.
Mother Theresa, for instance, always had faith that God would somehow provide
the food, money and provisions she needed to continue her service to the
poorest of the poor. Writings about her work are filled with miracle stories of
how the things she needed showed up exactly when she needed them, often in the
most surprising ways.

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Dream WorksIn the stillness of the night, when not a sound breaks the hushed silence, they timorously creep into your mind. Fragile, flittering forms—often more real than reality—seek you out from the deepest abyss of your soul and open for you a vista of visions—nonsensical, terrifying, fantastic—and sometimes, just sometimes, hauntingly beautiful. You wake up with a lump in your throat that threatens to cascade down your eyes, a lingering nostalgia for something near, yet eternity away. But weren't you closer to believing, even then, that somewhere, all that you saw was real; that, beyond the tangible truth of ticking time, you had lived one moment of timeless infinity? Perhaps that's the secret. The chance to glimpse beyond. Why else should we take a dream, those phantasms of the chaotic unconscious, so seriously? Read more here: » Meaning of Dreams: Dream Works |

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Unique Makara Jyoti In Sabarimala Hills
Every year on Makara Sankaranthi , a unique phenomenon takes place at Sabarimala, the popular pilgrim centre on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. A light of extraordinary brightness appears on the horizon in the north-eastern side of an adjacent mountain top called Kantamala. The beacon, called Makara Jyoti , lasts 15 to 20 minutes and marks the climax of the 41 days of the Sabarimala pilgrimage. This 'light' miracle, in fact, follows yet another unexplained annual event. The ornaments of Lord Ayyappa, presiding deity of Sabarimala, are kept in the custody of the erstwhile Prince of Pandalam in his palace, 90 km from the temple. These are taken to the temple every year in a three-day-long procession. As the procession approaches the temple, an eagle is seen hovering over it, guiding it towards the sanctum sanctorum. Once the ornaments reach the temple, the eagle mysteriously disappears.

 | | | Miracle Dictionary: Gratitude - A Simple Yet Powerful Tool
The fourteenth century Native American Iroquois Constitution opens with a prayer of gratitude. It offers thanks "to the earth where men dwell; to streams of water, springs and lakes; to the maize and fruits and medicinal herbs; to the sun and moon, wind and thunder... and to the great creator, the source of life". Gratitude is one of the first principles of spiritual well-being. Blessings abound in the life of each of us, and a keener appreciation of the same unlocks the secrets of the universe. In opening our hearts wide to render thanks we automatically create the space in our consciousness for greater grace to flow in. A thankful heart is an open heart and is thus, open to receiving. Meister Eckhart, the German mystic observed, "If the only prayer you say in your life is thank you, that would suffice."
