Mind vs. IntellectThe mind is bigger than the brain. When people say "my mind," they are most likely referring to their intellect. The intellect is a process of the brain and, much of the time, along with our emotions, acts as part of our ego's defense system. The intended function of the intellect was to assess our immediate environment and communicate the information to the body so it could respond in whatever manner was appropriate to protect our physical being. | | | Mindfulness: The Cauliflower BuddhaThe Cauliflower Buddha The famous sage of Arunachala, India, Ramana Maharshi, said that when the mind is absorbed at the source from where the ÒI amÓ is springing forth, meditation begins. ÒWhen one is at this source, the separateness of ego dissolves,Ó Ramana proclaimed. Read more here: » The mind: The Cauliflower Buddha |

Anti-virus Your MindA computer virus, Blaster, infected several computer networks across continents recently, disrupting all normal functions, creating havoc in the business world. During the vicious virus attack, the utilisation of the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of the computer - which is its main think tank - was found to be extremely high, overshooting all permissible limits and causing computers to behave in an abnormal fashion. The human mind is often compared to a computer. In fact, we could draw an interesting analogy between a computer virus attack and the mind being plagued by virus-like evil thoughts. | | | Mindfulness: Stopping The Mind’s Chatter The nature of the mind is to accumulate. A gross mind wants to accumulate things; an evolved mind wants to accumulate knowledge. When emotion becomes dominant, it wants to accumulate people. The mind’s basic nature is to accumulate. The mind is a gatherer - always wanting to gather something. The mind of a person on the spiritual path starts accumulating 'spiritual’ wisdom. Maybe it starts gathering the guru’s words but until one goes beyond the need to accumulate - whether it is food, things, people, knowledge or wisdom - it does not matter what you accumulate. | | | Mindfulness: Discover the 'I', Be One With God The mind as a separate live entity does not exist, for it is an instrument in the hand of God. The only thing that remains is 'Being', which covers both existence and non-existence, which is beyond words or ideas. Pure awareness dawns through an understanding of one's own nature. The sage's instruction demands no strenuous effort either through physical rigour or austere practices such as chanting. | | | Mindfulness: Conquest of MindThe mind can be controlled by Abhyasa and Vairagya. Abhyasa is constant effort to fix the mind on God or Atman. Vairagya is dispassion or non-attachment to sensual objects. From "Easy Steps to Yoga" by Sri Swami Sivananda. Read more here: » Mind: Conquest of Mind |

 | | | Mindfulness: Purification of MindYou must have a pure mind if you want to realise the Self. Unless the mind is set free and casts away all desires, cravings, worries, delusion, pride, lust, attachment, likes and dislikes, it cannot enter into the domain of Supreme Peace and unalloyed felicity of the Immortal Abode. From "Easy Steps to Yoga" by Sri Swami Sivananda. Read more here: » Mind: Purification of Mind |

 | | | Mindfulness: The Group Mind Principle IIn short, the group mind principle of Nature states that the resulting force generated from the combining of like minds is geometrically greater than the sum of its parts. In other words, minds that are focused together upon a common theme create a mutual force that is not merely additive, but vastly more powerful than any one individual or group of individuals. | | | Mindfulness: Facts About MindMind is not only daily made, but hourly made. In every minute it changes its colour and shape like a chameleon. It is very wavering and unsteady (Chanchalam and Asthiram). From "Easy Steps to Yoga" by Sri Swami Sivananda. Read more here: » Mind: Facts About Mind |

 | | | Mindfulness: The Group Mind Principle IIThe number of similarities between the function of a two-way radio and the human body are quite surprising. The body/mind constantly emits all aspects of our internal state to the environment, and receives input from the world in the same manner. In any discussion of group mind phenomena, it is impossible not to enter into the subject of psychic effect, as well as the principles of natural law such as resonance or vibration (feeling/frequency) that make it possible. Similarly, it is not possible to fully understand psychic effects without a minimum coverage of the energy or chi upon which it is based. Read more here: » Group Mind: The Group Mind Principle II |
