(Meta, ÒafterÓ or ÒbeyondÓ; physics ÒphysicalÓ)

Originally, the study or philosophy dealing with cause - i. e. non-physical, spiritual, or non-material realities. Currently, it usually means the practice of magick, psychic, or the occult.

Metaphysics is a branch of philosophy that deals with the nature of existence, truth and knowledge. It incorporates ontology (the science/nature of true being) and epistemology (the study of the origin, methods and limits of knowledge). The student of metaphysics is interested in first causes, the nature of "reality" and in what lies beyond the sensory world. Metaphysics will never be accepted as an integrated science by scientists because it does deal with subjective territory, with events that do not fit perfectly within our present prescripts of comprehension. Indeed, it will not become indefectible and conclusive until the evolution of man-woman is consummated.

The term metaphysics originally referred to the writings of Aristotle that came to light after his writings on physics, in the arrangement made by Andronicus of Rhodes, about three centuries after Aristotle's death.

Traditionally, metaphysics refers to the branch of philosophy that attempts to understand the fundamental nature of all reality, whether visible or invisible.

It seeks a description so basic, so essentially simple, and so all-inclusive that it applies to everything, whether divine or human or anything else. It attempts to tell what anything must be like in order to be at all.

Idealism is the doctrine that whatever exists, or at least everything that can be known to exist, is mental. (Opposed to materialism: "All there is, is matter")

On this view, tables may be real, and independent of our sensations of tables, as long as they are something like ideas - and provided ideas can cause sensations.

Our sensations of tables are to some extent subjective, the sensations cannot exist except in perception. Therefore, nothing can be immediately known except what is in the mind.

Did you ever see something go wrong around you and suddenly burst out, How on Earth did I create that? Really, how can bad things happen, even to the sweetest, kindest, most spiritual people on the planet? Where's the fairness in that?

The root of the question lies partly in the fact that we live in a state of polarity consciousness. This is a point of view where life is seen as a contrast between opposing forces, and that events are either good or bad.

Good or bad is a judgment issue. Judgment belongs within the frequency band of basic, physical consciousness. Yes, in physical consciousness, bad things do exist, and they appear that way because they're designed to.

The Hebrew 'Kabbala' or 'Science of Prophets' is a book containing the ancient mysteries. The mystic diagrams in it have an esoteric meaning. The Solomon's Seal is one such mystic diagram. No choice in life is without a cost. Each decision to choose something necessarily costs us the option of keeping something else. In most cases having the cake and eating it is just an illusion.

In many cases we choose the wrong option. Without the power of foresight choice is a gamble, and as with most gambles odds are theoretically even. Since human nature is to mourn losses far more than celebrate gains, end result of a sequence of choices is mostly dissatisfaction. Why must we choose? Why can't we accept contradictions in life? Choices appear to give us freedom; in reality they constrain us instead of liberating us.

Intelligence does not in and of itself bring happiness. What brings happiness is acceptance. There is no purpose to intelligence, it is inherent within the energy of all that is. Intelligence and energy are one and the same. Energy is intelligence. Intelligence is energy.

Happiness is a result of acceptance. Those who operate with greater mental constraints, for whatever reason, sometimes seem to have an easier time accepting their circumstances, their environment, and themselves, because they are not given to long- winded inner dialoguing and mental journeys into the various nuances of their perceived reality. And so a socalled simple minded person can shrug their shoulders and carry on, accept what is, and that is what creates the avenue for the experience of happiness.

We shall now take it for granted that matter, physical objects, the external world exist e.g. that there is a real table which exists independently of our sensations and of which the sensed qualities are the appearances.

The question is then: What is that matter like? To this question science provides one answer and it is very different from the answer of common sense belief.
