Messiah - Josephus's report of civil unrest in the first century.
It had been thought that Josephus asserts that Jesus was indeed the true messiah. No original version of Josephus' writing exists, however, comparisons of various translations have led textual analysts to conclude that this and other statements were later interpolations inserted into the text centuries after the fact and were not written by Josephus himself.
However, also from Josephus it appears that in the first century before the destruct ...

 | | | Messiah - Other Messiahs: Beware The Messiah ComplexPsychic Reading One hazard and lesson of this business I learned the hard way when I first got into it, is what I have come to call the MESSIAH COMPLEX. I almost fell into it myself, and it was a rough lesson to learn. Over the years, I have learned that many other people connected to this business also suffer from it in one form or another, and it can sometimes become quite detrimental, not only in the professional field, but also in your personal life. | | | Messiah - Other Messiahs: Encyclopedia - Historicity of JesusThe historicity of Jesus (i.e., his existence as an actual historical figure), is accepted by three major world religions, Christianity, Islam, and the Bahá'í Faith based on their respective scriptures, the Bible, the Qur'an and the Kitáb-i-Íqán. However, while Christianity and the Bahá'í Faith consider Jesus to be the Christ (Messiah) and Son of God, and Islam views him as a prophet, secular historians and followers of most other world religions (including Judaism) tend to regard him as an ordinary human, and a few dispute whe ...

Derren Brown - Mind Control.
Since the first broadcast of his Channel 4 television show Derren Brown: Mind Control in 2000 he has become increasingly well known for his "mind-reading" act. Derren Brown says he possesses no psychic ability and achieves his results by making use of psychological insights. Using his knowledge and skill he claims he is able to predict and influence people's thoughts with subtle suggestion, manipulate the decision making process and read the subtle physical signs or body ...

 | | | Messiah - Other Messiahs: Encyclopedia II - Rand al'Thor - ReincarnationRand al'Thor is special in that he is the only known soul to be wove out by the Wheel of Time for a specific Rebirth. Although there are other known cases of rebirth (such as Birgitte Silverbow and Gaidal Cain), only Rand al'Thor's rebirth has been predicted. Most think of his soul as being Lews Therin Telamon, a male Aes Sedai from the Age of Legends who gained prominence in the Hall of Servants as the Dragon, the leader of the Forces of Light against the Shadow during the War of Power. This is, of course, why al ...

Robert Jordan has assured fans that at some point in the last two books, Rand will lose his hand in an incident involving the poker. Tyr's hand was bitten off by the wolf Fenrisulfr. | | | Messiah - Other Messiahs:
Spiritual - Theosophy
Dictionary on
Messiah, mashiah Messiah mashiah (Hebrew) Anointed; translated into the Greek as Christos. The Hebrews had their special form of the universal belief in the coming of avataras, and the Christians claimed that Jesus was the fulfillment of the particular Hebrew expectation. Hence Messiah is often used as a title for Jesus. Generally, a Messiah is an esoteric spiritual sun, surrounded by his spiritual family composed of twelve less powers (as in the 12 disciples); the term is connected with fish and water symbols and with the zodiacal sign Pisces (Fishes). Early Christian astrologers expected the coming of the Messiah to be signalized by a conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter in Pisces, in connection with other planetary configurations. As regards the future, the looked-for great avatara is the Kalki-avatara of the Brahmins, virtually identical with Maitreya, the fifth buddha. | | | Messiah - Other Messiahs: Encyclopedia II - Derren Brown - Other 'Mind' magiciansWhilst Brown must be deemed a great success as a 'psychological magician' by the yardstick of media exposure and television appearances, he is not alone in pioneering or originating this form of entertainment. From the 1990s onwards American psychologist turned entertainer Marc Salem has appeared with his project 'Mind Games' to critical acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, in the theatre as well as on television. British-Dutch magician David Berglas was a household name in the 1960s and early 1970s with his intense, interactive television shows which drew heavily on his trainin ...

 | | | Messiah - Other Messiahs: Encyclopedia II - Derren Brown - Other productions and publicationsHe has written two books on magic, Absolute Magic and Pure Effect.
Absolute Magic is not so much about magical methodology as about how magicians can make their performances magical; it is written in a variety of styles, sometimes humorous, sometimes serious, but always thought provoking. He warns against an act that conveys the feeling of "Here are some tricks I've bought" and urges magicians to make their performances experiential and memorable by involving the audience. In some respects a lot of what he says is ...
