In contrast to tumors originating elsewhere in the body, differentiating primary "brain tumors"—these are the true brain tumors, arising exclusively from cells normally present in the brain itself—into benign and malignant is of relative and limited clinical value, since even histologically-benign tumors grow by infiltration of healthy brain tissue and, in time, tend to transform into malignant forms (anaplastic degeneration). True benign intracranial tumors arise mainly from the meninges (meningiomas; about 95% are benign), pituitary gland (pituitary adenomas) and the myelin sheath of cranial nerves (n ... * Encyclopedia II - Immune system - Structure

Most multicellular organisms possess an "innate immune system", generally comprising a set of germ-line encoded receptors to pathogens, that does not change during the lifetime of the organism. Adaptive immunity, in which the responses to pathogens change and develop during the lifetime of an individual, seems to have appeared somewhat abruptly in evolutionary time, with the appearance of ch ...

Several findings indicate that colour and light have been used for health treatments since the beginning of recorded time. Colour therapy is possibly rooted in Ayurveda, an ancient form of medicine practiced in India for thousands of years. Other historic roots are attributed to Chinese and ancient Egyptian culture. In traditional Chinese medicine, each organ is associated with a colour. Ancient Egyptians built solarium-type rooms, which could be fitted with coloured panes of glass. The sun would shine through the ...

* Encyclopedia II - Immune system - Disorders of the human immune system

The most important function of the human immune system occurs at the cellular level of the blood and tissues. The lymphatic and blood circulation systems are highways for specialized white blood cells to travel around the body. White blood cells include B cells, T cells, natural killer cells, and macrophages. Each has a different responsibility, but all function together with the primary objective of recognizing, attacking and destroying bacteria, viruses, cancer cells, and all substances seen as foreign. Without this coordinated effort, a person would not be able to surv ...

* Encyclopedia II - Gland - Formation

Every gland is formed by an ingrowth from an epithelial surface. This ingrowth may from the beginning possess a tubular structure, but in other instances glands may start as a solid column of cells which subsequently becomes tubulated. As growth proceeds, the column of cells may divide or give off offshoots, in which case a compound gland is formed. In many glands the number of branches is limited, in others (salivary, pancreas) a very large structure is finally formed by repeated growth and sub-division. As a rule the branches do not unite ...

* Massage Bodywork Dictionary on LYMPH DRAINAGE THERAPY

LYMPH DRAINAGE THERAPY
Lymph Drainage Therapy is unique in that healthcare professionals learn how to palpate the lymphatic flow. As they develop their skills, they can then identify the rhythm, direction, and quality of the lymphatic flow.

Advanced practitioners will be able to precisely map the lymphatic flow to find alternate pathways for drainage. Developed by Bruno Chikly, M.D., Lymph Drainage Therapy evolved from years of training in traditional medicine, Oriental medicine practices, and manual therapies. (Definition provided by The Upledger Institute.)

* Massage Bodywork Dictionary on SHIATSU

SHIATSU
Developed in Japan, shiatsu is a finger-pressure technique utilizing the traditional acupuncture points of Oriental healing.

Similar to acupressure, shiatsu concentrates on unblocking the flow of life energy and restoring balance in the meridians and organs in order to promote self-healing. With the client reclining, the practitioner applies pressure with the finger, thumb, palm, elbow, or knee to specific zones on the skin located along the energy meridians.

The treatment brings about a sense of relaxation while stimulating blood and lymphatic flow. The benefits of this treatment may include pain relief and a strengthening of the body’s resistance to disease and disorder.

Detoxify With Easy Herbal Applications

When we detoxify our body through cleansing, fasting, green drinks, juicing and herbs we are ultimately getting rid of toxic agents and impurities in our body that cause sickness and disease. Toxins drain through the channels of the lymphatic system and into the kidneys, liver, and the colon where they finally escape the body.

Why Do Our Body’S Work Against Us? Understand Why The Separate Components Create Pain, Arthritis & Disease?

Major physiological changes that can contribute to pain are the failure of the circulatory and energetic systems and the weakening of the lymphatic system to meet the demands of the body. Pain, although felt on the physical level, is usually caused by a combination of mental, emotional, psychological, psychic or spiritual issues that affect the lymphatic system, causing stagnation. Stagnation leads to congestion, inflammation which induces physical pain.
