Luciferians A Christian sect formed in the 4th century by Lucifer, bishop of Cagliari. He was an ardent supporter of the Athanasians against the Arians, but split off from the other Athanasian prelates because they were not sufficiently intolerant in their opposition of the Arians. The sect perished after his death and left no distinctive doctrine of importance.

The quote most frequently associated with the Taxil Hoax reads: That which we must say to the world is that we worship a god, but it is the god that one adores without superstition. To you, Sovereign Grand Inspectors General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the brethren of the 32nd, 31st and 30th degrees: The masonic Religion should be, by all of us initiates of the higher degrees, maintained in the Purity of the Luciferian doctrine. Luciferians: Encyclopedia - Qliphoth

Qliphoth, kliffoth or klippot (singular: qliphah) refer to the representation of evil forces in the mystical teachings of Judaism (such as in the Kabbalah.) The term klippot means peels in Hebrew. Like nearly all kabbalistic concepts, the qliphoth have been described in numerous ways often very much different from each other. They are also a decidedly obscure area of Kabbalah, which may have fueled speculation. Thus, the following is to be taken as an incomprehensive list of conflicting views, ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia - Lucifer

Lucifer is a Latin word made up of two words, lux (light; genitive lucis) and ferre (to bear, to bring), meaning light-bearer. Lucifer appears in Greek mythology as heosphoros, the "Dawn-bringer"; it is used by poets to represent the Morning Star at moments when "Venus" would introduce distracting imagery of the goddess. "Lucifer" is Jerome's direct translation in his Vulgate (4th century) of the Septuagint's Greek translation, as heosphoros, "morning star" or "Day Star," literal ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia - Anti-Freemasonry

Anti-Freemasonry (alternatively called Anti-Masonry) is hostility towards or prejudice against Freemasons, which can range from individual hatred to institutionalized, violent persecution. The highly explicit ideology of Adolf Hitler's Nazism is probably the most extreme historical example of the phenomenon. Anti-Freemasonry has historically taken different forms; in contemporary society anti-Freemasonry is common amongst new ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia II - Qliphoth - Judaic views

All Judaic interpretations of the qliphoth agree they are the cause of evil and suffering (see theodicy). There are kabbalistic worldviews that seek to explain evil without use of the qliphoth concept, as aspects of the sephiroth (singular: sephirah) Binah, Gevurah and Hod. The Zohar describes the qliphoth as the result of separation necessary in the act of creation. Between two things, there must be ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia II - Qliphoth - Hermetic views

Kabbalah as interpreted in Hermeticism is related to the original, but Hermetics ignore many of its concepts in favor of ones taken from other sources or originally created. Here, God is sometimes thought to shine with his pure, divine light into a chaotic darkness, Tohu va-Bohu, that did not cease to exist when God created light and order (the contrasting view in Judaic Kabbalah supports that the act of creation by God required retraction of the divine essence or tzimtzum; the notion of void or matter external to God is antithetical ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia II - Taxil hoax - Conflicting view

Some critics of Freemasonry say that although the Taxil Hoax was a 'sting' against the Church in France because of its teachings regarding Freemasonry, its modern usage by American Freemasonry in the context of rebutting quotations of Albert Pike's alleged letter to the 23 Supreme Councils of the world on the 'Luciferian Doctrine' is in reality an attempt to confound and confuse the issue of Freemasonry and Lucifer, especially in regard to references to it in Masonic writings. The critics say that the alleged Pike letter is not taken from an ...

Léo Taxil (whose original name was Marie Joseph Gabriel Antoine Jogand-Pagès) was an atheist who had been accused earlier of libel on account of a book he had written called The Secret Loves of Pius IX. On April 20, 1884, Pope Leo XIII published an encyclical, Humanum Genus, that said that the human race was "separated into two diverse and opposite parts, of which the one steadfastly contends for truth and virtue, the other of those things which are contrary to virtue and to truth. Luciferians: Encyclopedia II - Lucifer - Lucifer and the Hebrew Bible

Lucifer is used by Jerome in the Vulgate (4th century) to translate into Latin Isaiah 14:12-14, where the Hebrew text refers to heilel ben-shachar (הילל בן שחר in Hebrew). Heilel signifies the planet Venus, and ben-shachar means "the brilliant one, son of the morning", to whose mythical fate that of the King of Babylon is compared in the prophetic vision. The Jewish Encyclopedia reports that "it is obvious that the prophet in attributing to the Babylonian king boastful pride, followed by a f ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia II - Lucifer - Lucifer in astronomy

Because the planet Venus (Lucifer) is an inferior planet, meaning that its orbit lies between the orbit of the Earth and the Sun, it can never rise high in the sky at night as seen from Earth. It can be seen in the eastern morning sky for an hour or so before the Sun rises, and in the western evening sky for an hour or so after the Sun sets, but never during the dark of midnight. Venus (Lucifer) is the brightest object in the sky after the Sun and the Moon. As bright and as brilliant as it is, ancient people couldn't understand why th ...

Luciferians: Encyclopedia II - Lucifer - Literature

Lucifer is a key protagonist in John Milton's Protestant epic, Paradise Lost. Milton presents Lucifer almost sympathetically, an ambitious and prideful angel who defies God and wages war on heaven, only to be defeated and cast down. Lucifer must then employ his rhetorical ability to organize hell; he is aided by Mammon and Beelzebub. Later, Lucifer enters the Garden of Eden, where he successfully tempts Eve, wife of Adam, to eat fruit from the Tree of knowledge of good and evil. Lucifer naturally ...
