See also: Ulster Loyalist A loyalist in Northern Ireland is another name for a Unionist who feels strongly about the political union between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In recent times, however, some sections of the media have devalued the term to refer to someone on the extreme fringe of unionism who resorts to murder, or threatens to do so, in what they perceive as their defence of their community, Protestantism, or Northern Ireland's position as part of the United Kingdom. Loyalist: Encyclopedia II - Loyalist - Loyalists in Scotland

A loyalist in Scotland is someone on the fringes of Scottish unionism and who is often stridently supportive of loyalism and unionism, although mainly concentrating on the Irish union, rather than Scottish politics. Although a tiny fraction of the Scottish population, and less so in comparison to their Northern Ireland counterparts, their profile has become more prominent with strident demonstrations of their beliefs since the establishment of a Scottish Parliament - often seen at loyalist marches and through their support for Rangers F.C. in Glasgow, ...

Loyalist: A Tale of Loyalty, Betrayal and Faith

There are many ways of looking at the Ramayana. The most instructive approach would be to focus on the epic's basic unifying theme - of loyalty and betrayal. This theme is evident in all the three categories of protagonists - the naras, the vanaras and the rakshasas. Prominent among the nara loyalists are Lakshmana and Bharata.

Loyalist: Alternative Health Dictionary on Enneagram system

Enneagram system (Enneagram, Enneatype system): System of spiritual psychology based on an ancient Sufi typology of nine (ennea in Greek) personality types or primary roles:

(1)           the achiever (reformer) - orderly, rational, and self-righteous;

(2)           the helper - generous, manipulative, and possessive;

(3)           the succeeder (motivator, status-seeker) - ambitious, hostile, and pragmatic;

(4)           the individualist (artist) - intuitive, self-absorbed, and sensitive;

(5)           the observer (thinker) - analytic, original, and provocative;

(6)           the guardian (loyalist) - defensive, engaging, and responsible;

(7)           the dreamer (generalist) - accomplished and manic;

(8)           the confronter (leader) - combative, dominating, and self-confident; and

(9)           the preservationist (peacemaker) - easygoing and receptive.

Each type has a prime psychological addiction (fixation or blind spot), respectively: anger, pride, deceit, envy, greed, fear, gluttony, lust for life and power, and laziness. These addictions include Christianity's seven deadly sins.

(a)           Recognition of one's type is tantamount to spiritual awakening. in the process of neutralizing the prime addiction:

(b)          achievers become pathfinders,

(c)           helpers become partners, succeeders become motivators,

(d)           individualists become builders,

(e)           observers become explorers,

(f)             guardians become stabilizers,

(g)           dreamers become illuminators,

(h)           confronters become philanthropists, and

(i)             preservationists become universalists.

Loyalist: Encyclopedia - Ulster Defence Regiment

The Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR) was an infantry regiment of the British Army. Formed in 1970, it was designed to replace the controversial B-Specials of Northern Ireland. Throughout its history the UDR was dogged by accusations of collusion with loyalist paramilitaries, many of whose members were also serving UDR soldiers, and had a reputation for brutality and maltreatment of civilians. Brigadier David Millar, the former commandant of the Fifth Battalion (County Londonderry), once admitted that if he expelled any of his soldiers for belonging to an illegal loy ...

Loyalist: American History Dictionary - Loyalists

Definition and meaning of Loyalists:

Loyalists

Loyalists (sometimes called Tories) hesitated to take up arms against England. They may have been as much as one-third of the colonists in 1776. Many were royal appointees, Anglican clergymen, or Atlantic merchants. They were poorly organized and of limited help to British armies, but the Patriots persecuted them.
