 | | | Live: Encyclopedia II - Silent film - Live music and soundShowings of silent films almost always featured live music, starting with the pianist at the first public projection of movies by the Lumière Brothers on December 28, 1895 in Paris (Cook, 1990). From the beginning, music was recognized as essential, contributing to the atmosphere and giving the audience vital emotional cues (musicians sometimes played on film sets during shooting for similar reasons). Small town and neighborhood movie theaters usually had a pianist. From the mid-teens onward, large city theaters tended to have organists or ...

 | | | Live: Encyclopedia II - Saturday Night Live TV show sketches - Jarret's RoomJarret's Room was a recurring sketch on Saturday Night Live from 2000 to 2004. It's presented as a webcast by two stoner Hampshire College students, Jarret (Jimmy Fallon) and Goby (Horatio Sanz). In an episode it is revealed that the only person that watches the show is an Icelandic teenager, Jeorg (Ashton Kutcher). It frequently featured Seth Meyers as DJ Jonathan Feinstein.
The sketch benefitted greatly from the formula of Mike Myers' Wayne's World. The always enthusiastic and childlike Jarret (Wayne) is offset by his awkward cohost. It's all DIY and low-budget. They get guests on who are just ...

 | | | Live: Everyday Metaphysics
We all live metaphysical lives, whether we are aware of it or not. What we desire becomes manifest in our lives. What we fear becomes manifest in our lives. When these things happen, we are experiencing the Law of Attraction (sometimes called the Law of Resonance.) The Law of Attraction states that we create (co-create with God) in our lives that which we focus on. The vibration sent out to the Universe of what we fear or desire or believe attracts to us things that resonate with our fears, desires and beliefs. Our lives are always in sync with exactly what we believe about our lives.

They recorded their debut album, Phish, in 1986, and began touring nationally soon after, playing 150 concerts in 1990 alone. They were signed to Elektra Records in 1991. All Phish albums feature the classic lineup of Trey Anastasio, Mike Gordon, Jon Fishman, and Page McConnell.

 | | | Live: Encyclopedia II - Heaven - Heaven in Protestant ChristianityHistorically, Christianity has been divided over how people gain entry into Heaven. From the 16th to the late 19th century, Christendom was divided between the Roman Catholic and Orthodox views on the one hand, and the Protestant views on the other.
In the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox traditions, entry into Heaven depends upon the Christian receiving God's grace through the activities of the church. This would include sacraments such as Baptism, the Eucharist and Confession. Roman Catholics believe that entering Purgatory after death ...

 | | | Live: True Friends are God's Angels
In the alienated and fragmented world we live in today, the human heart cries out for friendship or affirmation from others. That is because we are meant to see in the human faces we encounter, the face of God. Tell someone that I am here, is the cry of the human heart. Fernando Silva, who runs a children's hospital in Managua, reports the incident of a lonely child in the hospital in search of a human hand to grasp. One Christmas eve, when he stayed in working late into the night amidst revelry, he heard footfalls behind him. On turning, he recognised the sick child who had no one in the world. Fernando drew close to the child and touched him lightly with his hand. The child whispered: "Please tell someone that I am here".

 | | | Live: The Truth Beyond Success and Failure
It does not matter to a man of awareness whether he is successful or unsuccessful, well-known or absolutely unknown, powerful or just a nobody. To a man of awareness, these dualities don't matter at all, because awareness is the greatest treasure. When you have it, you don't want anything else. You don't want to become the president or prime minister of a country. Those who pursue power suffer even in success - they live in the eternal fear that they might lose it. At first they suffered because they were not successful; now after being successful, too, they are suffering because of a feeling of insecurity.

 | | | Live: The Matrix Myth and the Price of Freedom
reedom is tough shit. That's the central message of the Matrix movies. The inhabitants of the computer-simulated world of the Matrix live in comfortable, salubrious surroundings and appear secure and content with their lives. The rebels who inhabit the real world live in Zion, an underground citadel that looks like Dante's Inferno. They undergo physical and mental pain and are always prey to fears and doubts. Despite this, they feel immeasurably better off than those in the Matrix. Because Zion is freedom, and the Matrix is enslavement. And if the price of freedom is anguish, too bad. For everyone who's free knows that freedom is tough. Too tough for most, according to Dostoyevsky's Grand Inquisitor.
