Linga: Mudras - the science of hand and finger postures

Mudras, the science of hand and finger postures, can help you to cure bodily ailments in a wonderful manner. It actually helps in balancing the five elements ( panch-tattvas ) in the human system to their optimal levels. The elements can even be increased or decreased to cure appropriate ailments. When the elements are completely balanced, the yoga (unison) of mind, body and soul with the Supreme Soul can be achieved!

Linga: Yoga for Cold

The common cold is an upper respiratory infection caused by a virus. Colds are considered to be the immune system's response to viral attack.

 

Yoga not only helps prevent cold but improves a person's health and strengthens the immune system thus lessening susceptibility to colds.

 

If ling mudra is practised daily, along with a proper practise of Kapalbhati Pranayan then various incurable disease of the chest can be healed.

Linga: A Mudra For The Chest, Cold and Infection

The Linga mudra is said to make the body more resistant to colds and chest infections. Those who suffer from bad colds, incurable infections, congested chests and are prone to being affected adversely by the mildest changes in the weather, so they are advised to practise the Linga mudra. This mudra generates heat in the body and thus, while it "burns" away accumulated phlegm in the chest, it also makes the body more resilient to the cold.

Linga: Padmas Or Chakras

Chakras are in the Linga Sarira (astral body). Linga Sarira is of 17 Tattvas, viz., 5 Jnanendriyas (ears, skin, eyes, tongue and nose); 5 Karmendriyas (speech, hands, legs, genitals, anus); 5 Pranas (Prana, Apana, Vyana, Udana, Samana); Manas (mind); and Buddhi (intellect). These have corresponding centres in the spinal cord and the nerve-plexuses in the gross body. Each Chakra has control and function over a particular centre in gross body.

Linga: Passage Of The Soul Between Death And Rebirth

The soul migrates with the astral body, or Sukshma-Sarira or Linga-Deha. This astral body is made up of nineteen Tattvas or principles, viz., five organs of action, five organs of knowledge, five Pranas, mind, intellect, Chitta (the subconscious), and Ahankara or egoism.

Linga: A Column of Light On Shivaratri  

The lakhs of Shiva temples all over India include the famous temples at Amarnath in Kashmir, Somnath in Gujarat, Vishwanath in Varanasi and Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain.

 

The names of these Shiva temples define Shiva's various divine functions, exalting Him as the Supreme Soul. The linga is worshipped as the very image of Shiva. The linga indicates that Shiva has neither male nor female human form like do the other deities; the Lord is an incorporeal point of Light. This is why, the 12 well-known Shiva temples in India are also known as Jyotirlinga Mat h signifying his form of Light.

The Eighteen Puranas: There are eighteen main Puranas and an equal number of subsidiary Puranas or Upa-Puranas. Linga Diksha: (Sanskrit) The Vira Saiva initiation ceremony in which the guru ties a small Sivalinga (Ishtalinga) around the neck of the devotee and enjoins him-her to worship it twice daily. This initiation replaces the sacred thread ceremony, upanayana.

Linga: Encyclopedia - Amarnath

Amarnath is one of the holy shrines of the Hindus. Inside the Amarnath Cave lies the ice Shiva Linga (phallus of the Hindu god Shiva) which is visited by the Hindu pilgrims during May to August. The peak rush is during the Shravani Mela in July. The cave with the 'ice-linga' in it was first discovered by a muslim shepherd some 150 years ago.
