From a mains circuit the damage is more likely to be internal, leading to cardiac arrest.
The comparison between the dangers of alternating current and direct current has been a subject of debate ever since the War of Currents in the 1880s. DC tends to cause continuous muscular contractions that make the victim hold on to a l ...

Electric shock - Electric shock as medical treatment.
Electric shock can also be used as a medical therapy, under carefully engineered conditions:
as a (disputed) psychiatric therapy for mental illness, where it's called Electroconvulsive therapy.
as a treatment for fibrillation or irregular heart rhythms: see defibrillator and cardioversion.

Electric shock - Psychological.
The perception of electric shock can be different depending on the voltage, duration, current, path taken, etc. Current entering the hand has a threshold of perception of about 5 to 10 milliamperes (mA) for DC and about 1 to 10 mA for AC at 60 Hz.
Electric shock - Physiological.
Tissue heating due to resistance can cause extensive and deep burns. High-voltage (> 500 to 1000 V) shocks tend to cause internal burns due to the large energy (which is proportional to the square of the voltage) available from the source. Damage d ...

| | | | | | Letting Go: Encyclopedia II - Electric shock - DescriptionAn electric shock is usually painful and can be lethal. The level of voltage is not a direct guide to the level of injury or danger of death, despite the common misconception that it is. Physiological effects and damage are generally determined by current and duration. Even a low voltage causing a current of extended duration can be fatal. It should be noted, however, that Ohm's Law directly correlates voltage and current for a given resistance; thus, for a particular path through the body under a particular set of conditions, a higher voltage will produce a higher current flow.

| | | | | Letting Go: Encyclopedia II - Let It Be - The Get Back sessionsThe album, originally titled Get Back, was planned to be the Beatles coming full circle. After increasing use of overdubs and multi-layered recordings on recent albums, the group wanted to record the new album live in the studio, just as they had done for their first few albums in the early 1960s. In keeping with the concept, the cover artwork was going to be an update of the cover of their first album, Please Please Me, with the band looking down the stairwell of EMI's headquarters office block in Manchester Square, London. The photograph was however later used on the compilation album < ...

| | | | Letting Go: Encyclopedia II - Let's Make a Deal - Big Deal of the DayThe top two winners in each show were eligible to either keep their winnings or give up everything already won for a spot in the Big Deal of the Day.
If one or both of the top winners declined to give up their winnings (usually because they won a car or large amount of cash), Monty would go down the list of winners - highest to lowest - until he had two traders. (Very rarely, even a player who had been zonk ...
