 | | | Kimi Räikkönen: Encyclopedia II - Future of Formula One - Proposed new teamsSome new teams are expected to join the grid in the coming seasons.
Future of Formula One - MF1 Racing.
MF1 Racing intends to run the first Russian driver in F1 history. The team is owned by the Midland Group. In 2005, Midland bought Jordan Grand Prix. The move was in order to avoid paying the large deposit required to enter Formula One, and Midland apparently still want to build their team from scratch. The team continued to be known as Jordan in 2005, but the team will change name to MF1 Racing for 2006.

 | | | Kimi Räikkönen: Encyclopedia II - History of Formula One - Safety rules and regulationsBy 1994, the last death in Formula 1 was nearly a decade past, that of Elio de Angelis during testing in 1986. There had been several horrifying accidents (for example Nelson Piquet and Gerhard Berger at Imola, or Martin Donnelly in Spain), but no fatalities. The speed of Formula 1 cars had continuously risen over 8 years, despite turbocharged engines being made illegal and reducing the width of tyres and eventually removing driver aids. There was an "air of invincibility" in Formula 1, a ...

 | | | Kimi Räikkönen: Encyclopedia II - Formula One - HistoryThe Formula One series has its roots in the European Grand Prix motor racing (q.v. for pre-1947 history) of the 1920s and 1930s. A number of Grand Prix racing organisations laid out rules for a World Championship before World War II, but due to the suspension of racing during the war, the World Drivers Championship was not formalised until 1947, and was first run in 1950. A championship for constructors followed in 1958. Non-championship Formula One races were held for many years, but due to the rising cost of competition, the last of ...

 | | | Kimi Räikkönen: Encyclopedia II - 2005 Bahrain Grand Prix - SummaryThe 2005 Bahrain Grand Prix was only the second Formula One grand prix held in the Middle East, bringing the challenges of high temperatures and dusty conditions. The race was held the day after Pope John Paul II died, with several teams and drivers offering their respects.
The circuit had been modified slightly from 2004, with turn 4 in particular being widened on the exit.
First qualifying on Saturday resulted in few surprises — for the first few drivers, the circuit was still somewhat sandy, providing poor grip, while the later runners performed well, with Fernando Alonso t ...

 | | | Kimi Räikkönen: Encyclopedia II - Mercedes-Benz - MotorsportMercedes-Benz has been successful in motor racing throughout their history. The Mercedes Simplex of the early 1900s was the first purpose built race car, much lower than the usual designs that were similar to horse carriages; it dominated racing for years.
In 1914, just before the beginning of the war, Mercedes won the French Grand Prix, which was a blow to the French at that time. Benz raced an aerodynamically shaped Tropfenwagen in the 1920s before both companies united. In the 1930s, with their mighty Silver Arrows, they dom ...

 | | | Kimi Räikkönen: Encyclopedia II - Nürburgring - Post-warAfter World War II, racing recommenced in the 1950s and the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring again became the popular venue for the German Grand Prix as part of the Formula One World Championship (with the exception of 1959 when it was held on the AVUS in Berlin). It featured a new generation of F1 Ringmeisters, with racers like Alberto Ascari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, John Surtees, Jackie Stewart and Jacky Ickx.
In 1953, the ADAC 1000km Nürburgring race was introduced, an Endurance race and Sports car racing event that counted towards the ...

The race saw the return of the B.A.R.-Honda team, who were suspended for two races following the San Marino Grand Prix, due to a fuel tank irregularity. However, due to the 2005 engine regulations, they had to use engines from the San Marino race, which had been untouched for 5 weeks. Red Bull Racing decided that Vitantonio Liuzzi would retain his race seat for one round, before Christian Klien woul ...
