Killing: Encyclopedia - Killed in action

Militaries use the term killed in action (KIA) as a casualty classification. They generally use it to describe the homicides of their own forces by other hostile forces while in combat. Someone killed in action dies on the battlefield whereas someone who died of wounds (DOW) survived to reach a medical treatment facility. Common sense indicates that the side with the most KIA loses the conflict. However, cases exist where the opposite happens. The American Civil War provides one example of where the ...

A contract killing (also contract murder or murder-for-hire) is a murder in which the killer is hired by another person for material reward, usually money. A person who carries out a contract killing is sometimes known as a contract killer or hit man. In all countries with functioning judicial systems, contract killings are examples of a situation in which contracts are unenforceable at law (in the sense that the customer cannot sue for specific performance and the contract killer cannot sue for his pay). Both a hi ...

The song was the last track that the original five members of Duran Duran recorded together until 2001. While the name of the game is taken from Kill Dr. Coté, it is originally a play on the title of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill. Even the title screen resembles the cover of the Kill Bill films. Taking inflation into account Licence to Kill is the least financially successful James Bond film. Since its release many authors, fans, and critics have debated the reasoning for this. This led to a 15 rating in Britain and a PG-13 rating in the United States; the latter having been created in 1984 and gone through a ma ...

Initially Eric Clapton and Vic Flick were asked to write and perform the theme song to Licence to Kill. The theme was said to have been a new version based on the James Bond Theme. The guitar riff heard in the original recording of the theme was played by Flick. The prospect, however, fell apart and Gladys Knight's song and performance was chosen. Killing: Encyclopedia II - Licence to Kill - Novelisation

Licence to Kill was the first James Bond film since Moonraker to be novelised. Then-current Bond novelist John Gardner was commissioned to write the novel based upon the screenplay by Richard Maibaum and Michael G. Wilson. Gardner was faced with a challenge because his books maintain the continuity of Ian Fleming's original novels (albeit updated), and, in Fleming's and Gardner's continuity, Felix Leiter lost his leg in a shark attack in Live and Let Die. As a result, Gardner's book requires readers to suspend disbelief ...
