Kiara Windrider Dictionary: Theosophy Occultism Mysticism Dictionary on Medium

A Theosophical definition of Medium :

Medium

A word of curiously ill-defined significance, and used mostly if not exclusively by modern Spiritists. The general sense of the word would seem to be a person of unstable psychical temperament, or constitution rather, who is supposed to act as a canal or channel of transmission, hence "medium," between human beings and the so-called spirits.

A medium actually in the theosophical teaching is one whose inner constitution is in unstable balance, or perhaps even dislocated, so that at different times the sheaths of the inner parts of the medium's constitution function irregularly and in magnetic sympathy with currents and entities in the astral light, more particularly in kama-loka. It is an exceedingly unfortunate and dangerous condition to be in, despite what the Spiritists claim for it.

Very different indeed from the medium is the mediator, a human being of relatively highly evolved spiritual and intellectual and psychical nature who serves as an intermediary or mediator between the members of the Great Brotherhood, the mahatmas, and ordinary humanity. There are also mediators of a still more lofty type who serve as channels of transmission for the passing down of divine and spiritual and highly intellectual powers to this sphere. Actually, every mahatma is such a mediator of this higher type, and so in even larger degree are the buddhas and the avataras. A mediator is one of highly evolved constitution, every portion of which is under the instant and direct control of the spiritual dominating will and the loftiest intelligence which the mediator is capable of exercising. Every human being should strive to be a mediator of this kind between his own inner god and his mere brain-mind. The more he succeeds, the grander he is as a man.

Mediator, therefore, and medium are the polar antitheses of each other. The medium is irregular, negative, often irresponsible or quasi-irresponsible, and uncertain, and is not infrequently the victim or plaything of evil and degenerate entities whom theosophists call elementaries, having their habitat in the astral light of the earth; whereas the mediator is one more or less fully insouled or inspirited with divine, spiritual, and intellectual powers and their corresponding faculties and organs.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Siphra' Di-tseni`utha'

Siphra' Di-tseni`utha' (Chaldean) "Their counting or telling of the concealed mysteries," the Book of Secrets or Mysteries; one of the principal books of the Zohar (Light); the secrets or mysteries dealt with are those relating to cosmogony and to the inhabitants of those worlds, thus forming the basis of the Hebrew Qabbalah. The work opens with the statement: "The book of the concealed mystery is the book of the equilibrium of balance," and proceeds to expound this thesis in Qabbalistic terminology.

Blavatsky calls it "the most ancient Hebrew document on occult learning" (SD 1:xlii), although the language used is largely Chaldean, and states that it was compiled from the very ancient Book of Dzyan through the archaic Chaldean Qabbalah.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on Sadesati

Sadesati

Saturn's transit of the lunar 12th ,1st, and 2nd houses. It lasts about 7 1/2 years and is regarded as problematic for the Native by some Jyotishi. If the sarvaashhTakavarga of the signs in 12th, 1st and 2nd from the Moon have more than 30 points this relieves a lot of the above malefic side-effects. One should also judge the whole chart and see whether there is real malevolence to this transit

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: Holistic Health Dictionary I on MAGNETICS

MAGNETICS

is an understanding of the interrelationship between magnetism in the traditional sense, and the electro-magnetic energy fields of the human body, in relation to electro-magnetic energy elsewhere in the environment. By using this understanding, and applying various techniques and practices, one can influence the energy fields of the body in such a way as to help facilitate healing of various conditions.

Magnetic Therapy Treatments include the use of non-invasive magnets applied to the body affecting its various ionic currents and electromagnetic fields.

Reported benefits include relief from discomfort, reduction of swelling, infection, insomnia, stress, rheumatism, and can also help to increase energy. It is advised that a knowledgeable, experienced practitioner be consulted, so as not to adversely affect your electro-magnetic fields.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: New Age Spirituality Dictionary on George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff

George Ivanovitch Gurdjieff

(ca. 1877-1949)

Russian-born spiritual teacher and a major influence on twentieth-century alternative spirituality. He is best known for the community of disciples, which included well-known literary figures, that he established in Fontainebleau, France, in the 1920s.

His basic teaching was that human beings are asleep and need to be awakened, so that instead of acting merely out of mechanical habit they can truly control their lives.

Gurdjieff strove to awaken his pupils through seemingly erratic demands, rapid changes of activity or circumstance, sacred dance, and self-observation. Some groups in the Gurdjieff tradition still operate. His early life reads like a collection of tales from the Arabian Nights. Born in Alexandropol, Russia, followers began to organize around him in 1913. He is considered by some to have been the greatest mystical teacher of all times.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: A Christian Theological Dictionary on Septuagint

A Christian theological definition of Septuagint according to CARM - The Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry:

"

Septuagint, The

The Septuagint is the Greek translation of the Old Testament. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew. It was during the reign of Ptolemy Philadelphus (285-246 B.C.) that the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible, were translated into Greek. Shortly afterwards the rest of the Old Testament was also translated. This translation was done by approximately 70 translators. Hence, the Septuagint is known by the letters LXX, the Roman numerals for seventy.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: Spiritual - Theosophy Dictionary on Tempter

Tempter In general, the human mind, whether reacting to outside impulsions or impressions, or from within its own relatively small and uninspired powers; it has been commonly typified by the dragon, Satan, Zeus, etc. "Zeus is represented as a serpent -- the intellectual tempter of man -- which, nevertheless, begets in the course of cyclic evolution the 'Man-Saviour,' the solar Bacchus or 'Dionysus,' more than a man" (SD 2:419-20). Indeed, often it is our higher nature which "tempts" us upwards by calling forth latent or inner powers which, once evoked, are the ladder by which we climb. Thus our tempter is also our redeemer. The esoteric teaching of the tempting of humankind by awakening in its light of intellect has been materialized into a sensual temptation by a Devil in the Garden of Eden; and in the Bible, an evolutionary phase has been theologically degraded into a sin. The astral light is also spoken of as the tempter, especially by Eliphas Levi.

Temptation in its better sense is trial, probation, and testing, such as a candidate for knowledge must necessarily incur. In its worse sense, temptation is the evocation of action in and from the human mind and emotions, either by outside impacts, or because of the undeveloped characteristics of the mind itself.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: Spirituality 101 - an evolutional view

What makes us human? Is it the ability to walk on two feet and think? Is it the complexity of emotion that permeates our lives like an ocean fog? Who are we really? Even when we define ourselves as a soul, what are we talking about? Is it some mysterious connection with an “inner self” that few human beings have access to while others simply live their lives in robotic imitation or denial? These are all questions answered in this article.

Kiara Windrider Dictionary: : Earth Changes - Will there be dramatic Geological and Political changes the coming years until 2012?

There is a lot of information found both in prophecies and in recent writings and articles talking about Earth Changes, usually defined as catastrophic geological events such as earthquakes, volcanoes, polar shifts, flooding, and global warming. Many point to the shifting times and the moving into the Golden Age and to 2012 being a turning point in the history of mankind. The research and sometimes channeled material presented, probably with the best of intentions, often still carries elements of our own subconscious fears but is it only fear based material or is there something to this predictions of Earth Changes?
