| ARTICLES RELATED TO Kama | | | | Kama: Encyclopedia II - Huns - Origins and researchEver since Joseph de Guignes in the 18th century identified the Huns with the Xiongnu or (H)siung-nu, the research and debate about the Asian ancestral origins of the Huns has continued.

Also, many clans may have claimed to be Huns simply based on the prestige and fame of the name, or it was attributed to them by outsiders descr ...

| | | | Kama: Encyclopedia II - Cupid - Portrayal in art and literatureIn painting and sculpture, Cupid is portrayed as a nude winged boy armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows. The traditional Christian depiction of a cherub is based on him. On gems and other surviving pieces, he is usually shown amusing himself with childhood play, sometimes driving a hoop, throwing darts, catching a butterfly, or flirting with a nymph. He is often depicted with his mother (in graphic arts, this is nearly always Venus), playing a horn. He is also shown wearing a helmet and carrying a buckler (perhaps in reference to Virgil's Omnia vincit amor ...

| | | | | Kama: Encyclopedia II - Volga Bulgaria - OriginFirst-hand information on Volga Bulgaria is rather sparse. As no authentic Bulgar records have survived, most of our information comes from contemporary Arabic, Persian, or Russian sources. Some information is provided by excavations.
It is thought that the territory of Volga Bulgaria was originally settled by the Finno-Ugric peoples. The Bulgars moved into the area in about 660, commanded by Kotrag Khan, Kubrat's son. Some Bulgar tribes, however, continued westward and after many adventures settled along the Danube River, in what is ...

| | | | Kama: Encyclopedia II - Tatars - European TatarsThe discrimination of the separate stems included under the name is still far from complete. The following subdivisions, however, may be regarded as established:
Tatars - Tatarlar or Татарлар. In modern English only Tatar is used to refer to Eurasian Tatars; Tartar has an offensive connotation, corrupted from Tatar from associations with the Tartarus of Greek mythology. In Europe the term Tartar is generally only used in the historical context for Mongolian people who appeared in the 13th century (the Mongol invasion) and assimilated into the local population later.

| | | | Kama: Encyclopedia II - Russian Constituent Assembly - Bolsheviks and the Constituent AssemblyThe Bolsheviks' position on the Constituent Assembly evolved throughout 1917. At first, like all other socialist parties, they supported the idea. Although one of their slogans after Vladimir Lenin's return from Switzerland in April 1917 was "All Power to the Soviets!", it referred to transferring current state power from the Provisional Government to the socialist-dominated workers' and soldiers' councils known as "Soviets" and not to the ultimate power which was to be held by the Constituent Assembly. For example, on September 12-14, 1917, ...
