Desire
is one of the great paradoxes of being human. We find desire both at the heart
of our greatest joy and of our greatest suffering. Sometimes we are empowered
and uplifted by our desires, and at other times we feel enslaved to them.

| | | | Journey: Crystal AwarenessQuartz
crystals are God's gift to the earth, and a rare treasure to those who embrace
their light. A crystal connection will alter your vision and ease you into a
greater understanding of your Self. Crystals are found in watches, clocks,
televisions, VCRs, and computers, and these are just a few of their
applications. Quartz holds raw piezoelectric energy, and when shaven down to
micro chip size produces electricity that operates these necessities in our
lives. Imagine the personal power we can claim when we harness that energy and
allow the gentle electrical vibrations of crystals and gemstones to balance and
work with the flow of our own unique energy.

| | | | | Journey: Total Surrender to The Guru Principle
The Guru Gita says: ''If Shiva is angry with you, the guru will take care of you, but if the guru is cross with you, even Shiva will not be able to protect you against the wrath of your guru.'' How strange, I thought. Shiva is the creator, sustainer and destroyer of the universe; he is the vital principle from which all objects emerge. How can a living guru be more powerful than the lord of the universe?

| | | | | Journey: Universal Fellowship Through Bhakti Marga
Bhakti is founded in a spirit of universal fellowship and poetry is one more expression of this same fellowship. The verses of Mirabai, Tulsidas, Kabir, Ravidas and Tukaram are quoted frequently by people from all strata of life. Their poetry expresses concern about life: its difficulties, the loneliness, hypocrisy and pain. The bhakti poets seek God's help to sustain them on this difficult journey. So even today, through their poetry, the bhakti saints continue to influence our daily lives.

| | | | Journey: Time to Fast, Forgive and Give - about Lent
Lent, commencing is the 40-day period of preparation before Easter. For Christians worldwide, it is a time for repentance, fasting and almsgiving, all of which calls for a change of mind and heart. Gerard Hughes says a change of mind and heart cannot in a sense be achieved by us alone, as all Christian renewal starts not from self-effort but by attentiveness to God, who alone is good. It is God who does the transforming. A real change of mind and heart means an inner surrendering of our mind and heart to God, so that whatever we do, we do in his Spirit.

| | | | | Journey: Beyond the Last Blue Mountain
Traditionally, going on a tirtha or pilgrimage is believed to present an ideal occasion for soul-searching. The more arduous the journey, the greater the opportunity to reflect. A yatra is a good time - when the temporal and the timeless meet - to try and expand our understanding of our own selves and the Absolute. This is the spirit of the annual pilgrimage to the hallowed cave-shrine of Amarnath.

| | | | Journey: Multiple TimelinesKiara Windrider is a therapist, poet, astrologer, healer, explorer of mystic and shamanic paths and the author of the award-winning book Doorway to Eternity: A Guide to Planetary Ascension.
A new year dawns silent and unannounced in the early morning drizzle. The calendar spells 2002. What will this year bring? It is a year of paradox, the drizzle informs me – the best of times, and the worst of times. It is a year of planetary initiation, of unprecedented events that will change our lives forever. We will shed an old skin, open our sleeping eyes to a new light, and clear away some of the veils that cling so heavily, and yet so comfortably, to our collective soul. It’s a year like never before, and I notice that I enter through its gates with equal measures of trepidation and excitement. My personality carries some trepidation; my soul carries a great excitement. A poem, written long ago, comes to mind: Faint streaks of dawn.

| | | | Journey: Service Before Self - Seva as Sadhana - about Swami Chidananda
The ideals and motto of the Divine Life Society - "Serve, love, give, purify, meditate and realise" - are reflected in the life and work of Swami Chidananda Saraswati. His spiritual journey began on a Buddha Purnima day in 1943 inspired by his mentor Swami Sivananda. Chidananda's fervour to serve found the perfect outlet in the welfare work he undertook at Rishikesh. He believes that service alone can purify and prepare the soul for deep contemplation.

| | | | Journey: Encyclopedia II - Steve Perry musician - Journey yearsHerbert had heard a demo of an Alien Project song, "If You Need Me, Call Me", and knew Journey had to have the young singer. Steve was brought on tour and performed a song with Journey during a sound check in Long Beach. Herbert informed the band of the lineup change that night.
Perry replaced then-frontman Robert Fleischman in Journey, and brought a completely new pop sound to its music, despite protests from his new bandmates and fans of Journey's former progressive rock sound. He made his public debut on October 28, 1977 in San Fra ...
