 |  |  | Jonathan Swift - Writings: Encyclopedia II - Jonathan Swift - BiographyJonathan Swift was born at No. 7, Hoey's Court, Dublin, to an English mother, seven months after his father died. He was educated by his Uncle Godwin, and then sent to Swift's Heath, Kilkenny, from where, at the age of six years, he went to the Kilkenny Grammar School (also attended by the philosopher George Berkeley). In 1682 he attended Trinity College, Dublin, and he moved to live with his mother, Abigail Erick, at Leicester.
