Jack Soo: Encyclopedia - Chuck Cunningham syndrome

Chuck Cunningham syndrome is a term that refers to when in which an important character in a television series is removed with little or no explanation. The term comes from the character Chuck Cunningham in the American television series, Happy Days. Chuck, the oldest of the three children in the Cunningham family, initially appeared in the episode "Love and the Happy Days" (in the show Love, American Style), which served as the pilot for what became the Happy Days series. Jack Soo: Encyclopedia II - Forest Lawn Memorial Park Hollywood Hills - History

Forest Lawn (Glendale) was founded in 1917 by Dr. Hubert Eaton, a firm believer in a joyous life after death, who was convinced that most cemeteries were "unsightly, depressing stone yards," and pledged to create one that would reflect his optimistic beliefs, "as unlike other cemeteries as sunshine is unlike darkness." He envisioned Forest Lawn to be "a great park devoid of misshapen monuments and other signs of earthly death, but filled with towering trees, sweeping lawns, spl ...

Jack Soo: Encyclopedia II - M*A*S*H TV series - Synopsis

A letter to TV Guide written by a former M*A*S*H doctor in about 1973 stated that the most insane jokes and idiotic pranks on the show were the most true to life, including Klinger's crossdressing. The hellish reality of the M*A*S*H units encouraged this behavior out of a desperate need for something to laugh at. (Another former M*A*S*Her, though, pointed out later that a habitual crossdresser wouldn't last long ...

Jack Soo: Encyclopedia II - Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In - Memorable moments and catchphrases

The show gave considerable publicity to singer Tiny Tim, an unusual-looking man with long hair who sang in a falsetto voice while accompanying himself on ukulele. Thanks to his appearances on the show, he achieved a hit single with his piercing version of the vintage 1920s song "Tiptoe Through the Tulips." Tiny Tim was later married on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson to a woman known as Miss Vicky. Other musical moments came in the first season with some of the first music videos ever seen on TV, with cast members appearing in film clips set to the music ...

Jack Soo: Encyclopedia II - M*A*S*H TV series - Change in tone

As the series progressed, it made a significant shift from pure comedy to become far more dramatically focused. In addition, the episodes became more political, often appearing to "preach" to its viewers. This has generally been connected with Alan Alda taking a more involved role in production, and many of the episodes in which this change is particularly notable were written and/or directed by Alda. Another significant factor was the change in the cast, as Henry Blake, Trapper John, Frank Burns, and Radar gradually left the show. Still another change as the series progressed was a greater focus on the supp ...

Jack Soo: Encyclopedia II - Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In - Cast comings and goings

The show was #1 in the ratings for the 1968–69 and '69–70 seasons. At the end of '68–69, Judy Carne chose not to renew her contract as she wanted to pursue other projects, though she did make occasional appearances during '69–70; producer George Schlatter blamed her for breaking up the "family." The show also survived the departures of Goldie Hawn, and Jo Anne Worley to remain a top-20 show in '70–71. New faces in the 1970–71 season (joining Tomlin, who first appeared late in the previous season) included tap dancer Barbara Sharm ...
