Jack Lord: Encyclopedia II - Father Ted - Synopsis

Three priests preside over an island parish: Father Ted Crilly, Father Dougal McGuire and Father Jack Hackett. The three live together in Craggy Island's parochial house, along with their manic housekeeper Mrs Doyle (Pauline McLynn), who is hell-bent on serving tea to all and sundry. Responsible for the three priests' exile is fierce, uncompromising Bishop Len Brennan (Jim Norton). Bishop Brennan makes frequent visits to the island, often to cast his disapproving eye over the three and their backwater parish. The reasons for the priests' exile are only hinted at, but appear to stem from a mixture of ...

Jack Lord: Encyclopedia II - Dr. No - The film

Dr. No - The search for James Bond. Because James Bond was not that well known in 1961, the producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman originally sought to have a big name star as James Bond. Other actors purported to have been considered for the role include Patrick McGoohan (on the strength of his portrayal of spy John Drake in the TV series Danger Man), James Mason, and David Niven (who would later play an unofficial version of the character in th ...

Jack Lord: Encyclopedia II - Traci Lords - Early Life

Traci Elizabeth Lords was born Nora Louise Kuzma on May 7, 1968, in Stuebenville, Ohio to parents Louis and Patricia Kuzma. At twelve she fled from her abusive, alcoholic father to Lawndale, California with her mother and three sisters. Later, while attending Redondo Union High School, she had an abortion and after having a nervous breakdown, ran away from home. While living ...

Jack Lord: Encyclopedia II - List of James Bond allies - 00-agents

The 00 Branch of MI6 is considered the elite of the Secret Service. These are agents who have proven themselves capable enough in the field to be entrusted with the licence to kill -- the authorisation to, at their own discretion, commit assassination and acts that might be otherwise considered murder in order to complete their missions, without having to seek permission from headquarters first. The film The World is Not Enough revealed that the 00 Branch has its own area within MI6 headquarters and its own insignia, though it is not known if this has alwa ...

Jack Lord: Encyclopedia II - Man in a Suitcase - Origins and Overview

Man in a Suitcase was effectively a replacement for Danger Man, whose production had been curtailed when its star Patrick McGoohan had decided to create his own series, The Prisoner. Many of the Danger Man production crew moved over to the new series, which was initially to be titled McGill after its lead character. Like several ITC productions, the series would use an American star in an attempt to boost the show's sales in the US. An early choice was Jack Lord, but the part of McGill eventually went to Ri ...

Jack Lord: Encyclopedia II - Dr. No - The novel

The novel marks the first time a number of James Bond signature elements are used. It's the first novel in which Bond uses his signature Walther PPK handgun and also the first time Major Boothroyd (a.k.a. Q, the armourer) appears, although Bond's first gadget was in the previous novel, From Russia with Love. The plot of the novel and the film are very similar, only differing when elements from the previous novels are referenced, primarily From Russia with Love and Live and Let Die. See also:
