In the spiritual community, there are many who anticipate the Emergence of a Golden Age to come. An important part of this awakening that is occuring is the coming of Children with an awakened Consciousness. These childrens have been called the Indigo children.
Are the Indigo children, (variously called the Indigo children, Crystal Children, the Children of Oz) the ones who will launch humanity into a new era of consciousness, laying the groundwork for the emergence of a Golden Age?
"The Indigo Child is a boy or girl who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes, revealing a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This statement will serve dual purpose. It is for those who might be interested in creating, manifesting, and establishing an alternative school in their area. This can serve as a simplified outline to support or inspire your Vision and goals. It is also for those who might be interested in working in this New School environment and/or who are dissatisfied with the current situation presented and forced upon children labeled as 'education', and whom have not found a school which offers education, a nurturing/supportive environment and assist s their children in consciousness reality.
Children have never fit into the 1950's model for education, and certainly not the model of strict thinking and behavior of the era prior to the 1950's. It is now Time, with the Shift of Consciousness fully present, with the obvious deterioration of life systems around us, our realization that there is no such thing anymore as "weather patterns" and all will be intensifying, and that our world is experiencing vast and intense change in the land and in the ability to live in the manner we have grown accustomed, it is with these in focus, I present the following information.

At age two, Harry was diagnosed as "autistic" when it was apparent his speech development lagged behind normal. At first, his parents and doctor thought Harry had a hearing problem, so they had grommets (protective loops) placed in his ears. But Harry still didn't speak. His mother, Karenanne, says
"Harry has always had a very sunny temperament and showed no angst at being unable to speak. It was like talking was something he'd do when he was good and ready. It was the same with his reading skills. He showed no interest in baby books, yet when he got interested in Pokemon, he rapidly showed he indeed knew how to read, and he just pored over those handbooks."

There has been a lot of press lately about the sudden upsurge in profoundly autistic children- especially in California, but also in many other places. Some attribute this to the toxins in the water of California from the many fabrication plants in the Bay Area. Others say that when mildly autistic geeky sorts mate, their children are more likely to amplify their traits. Many programmers have Aspergers, a mild form of autism, which makes them excellent programmers, but also carries the risk of their offspring having full-blown autism. And others say the problem stems from the effects of some vaccines on children.

I've had the wonderful opportunity to work with children who are creative, intuitive, physically and emotionally sensitive and nonconforming. Many of these children, also called Indigo Children, have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD and bipolar disorder and are brought to me by parents who are looking for a drug-free solution. In most cases these labels are neither necessary nor helpful. If a child associates herself with words such as disorder and deficit, her self-confidence is affected and she may believe she will be defined by these terms for the rest of her life. However ignoring her symptoms is not the answer either. A child who is very energetic and has trouble focusing, is usually frustrated and unhappy and will benefit from alternative therapies.

There has been a lot of buzz lately in the mainstream Indigo circles about the "Crystal" children, a new 'ray' of manifestation engendered by the Indigo/Cobalt people. According to the popular literature, Crystals are extremely sensitive to the point of near-autism, and are extremely impressionable in many ways. In many ways, "Crystals" are more difficult to handle and understand than Indigos are/were.

Indigo homes are interesting places- often reflecting the owner's diverse tastes in books, music, d�cor, and everything else. We span the spectrum in organizational skills, but the typical Indigo dwelling is a symphony of elegant chaos- often cluttered and packed with books and papers, but not filthy. (It's that learning thing.) Our homes won't make it into decorator's magazines, but we know where everything is, and are comfortable with it. This doesn't mean that we don't get clutter fatigue- there is a certain stage of life where accumulation has to give way to dispersal.

The tertiary colour Indigo is manifest at the convergence of Violet and Blue within the Light Spectrum.
Indigo is the colour of the 6th chakra - often referred to as the Ajna Chakra or "Third Eye" - partly because of its position over the Pineal Gland and between the brows, and partly because of it's association to paranormal "vision" - seeing beyond the capability of the eyes. Whereas Blue is the colour of transition - "the door to the other side" - Indigo, is the "other side". It is the colour of "synthesis"-which is the act of assembling "seemingly" separate - unrelated criteria into a complete or whole understanding. This translates through the human consciousness as KNOWING - but not knowing how you know.

James Twyman is convinced that there's a new generation of special children among us who are psychically sensitive and spiritually evolved.
Those who follow metaphysics and ancient spiritual teachings have for years quietly nurtured the belief in these kids, known as Indigo children for the deep blue color of the "auras" psychics say they see around them.
Skeptics point out that there's no scientific research backing up the existence of these children, and Twyman, 43, knows that's true.
"Certainly in the scientific realm, this is just a bunch of New Age nonsense," says Twyman, "But I think anyone with an inquisitive and rational mind can look at many children out there today and say there's something about them."

Religion and religious expression is an interesting and often frustrating facet of the life of the Awakened Indigo and Octarine transitional. Quite often, if an Indigo is the member of a particular faith group, they will find one reason or another for separating from it as they mature and find their Gifts.
If the Indigo is a member of a particularly controlling church that requires lots of participation outside of the Sunday service, they will experience growing dissatisfaction with the basic operation and structure of the group, and may separate from it in a manner that is less than cordial.

Reiki is an ancient healing practice that involves using universal healing energy to heal physical and emotional wounds. Teaching Reiki to children started with my two year old daughter Mayah. Or maybe it was her teaching me? Her openness and willingness to send healing energy to others has been eye opening to all who have seen her.
She began at a healing group I take her to regularly. Mayah has sent energy to people on the table, and has on occasion gotten on the table herself to accept healing from others. This is what opened me to consider teaching Reiki to the crystal children of the world. These children are already gifted with healing and psychic abilities, and it is our job as their parents, guardians, grandparents etc. to guide and assist our children to understand and explore their healing gifts. Reiki is a perfect place to begin as is simple and easy for children to learn.

The reality of our world is a shifting, evolving, dynamic energy field. As part of this ecosystem, humanity is grow, and developing. As the needs of the whole shift, changes need to be made in the parts that make up that whole. So it is with the auras. A new colour-Indigo-has emerged, with ski talents, and physical characteristics significantly different those of the other colors. At this time, most Indigos are still children or young adults. I see Indigo children as a new co invested with new talents and abilities that will be necessary for our evolution. These children have unique characteristics for which we can only guess the purpose.

The wholistic education being offered through the School of Metaphysics is a forerunner in uniting that which very much divides people in the world today. The two groups can most readily be described as people of a religious nature and those of a scientific persuasion. A chasm stands between the two and they seem never to agree. They are constantly at odds. The beauty of metaphysical study, and the application of causal principles, causes the mind to transcend whatever differences or conflicts there might be between science and religion.

With so many of the Indigos being diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, and other learning disabilities, I thought some might find the following of interest. We experienced these difficulties before we discovered the Indigo information, but my daughter, Jessie, displays many of the Indigo traits. I should add as an aside that visual training proved beneficial, but we are also exploring "whole-brain" educational methods such as multiple intelligences. Also, if you look at natural learning models, such as the Sudbury School model, you'll see that the only learning disabled they encounter are those who have lost the ability to learn naturally through play. I've no doubt that the Indigos will teach us many new ways of learning. Meanwhile, I hope the following information will prove helpful to some.

The Indigo children, as they are now called by science, were first traced back to the year 1984. This was the year when suddenly a child appeared with very different human traits. As of 1999, science has suggested that approximately 80 to 90 percent of all the children born in the United States are Indigo children. I believe it probably will rise to nearly 100 percent in the future. You and I are obviously being phased out. These children are being born not only in the U.S., but also in many other areas of the world that seem to be connected with the wide use of computers.
Debra Hegerle writes about her own child. She says that indigo children can see your hidden agendas even when you can't. "I have a seven-year-old Indigo son. I've been working as a teacher's aide in his classrooms through preschool, kindergarten, and now first grade, and I've observed his interactions with Indigos and non-Indigos of all ages. It's been interesting! In fact, trying to put it all down in writing has been a challenge because the children do so many subtle things."
We are the Angels and the Archangels. We are winged emissaries who have chosen to merge through the One Heart to assist others in their homecoming through the open heart. We care for the children of the Earth and the childlike nature within you that is your soul. The first we wish to describe to you is the White Archangelic Ray that births the Crystal Children.

really are different, like no other generation of record. If the movie
"Indigo" makes this point and no other, it has done the world a
favor and hopefully will help to engender an overall transformation in how we
regard and teach children. Surely it will inspire a forum whereby the children
themselves can speak and be heard... for our youngest citizens truly have
something important to say that is worth hearing.
