What is an Indigo child? The term "Indigo Child" was coined by psychic and synesthesiac Nancy Ann Tappe, who classified people's personalities according to the color of their auras. Usually each universal age is accompanied by a life color, and during each such age there is a prevalence of people born during that time with that corresponding life color.

Indigo homes are interesting places- often reflecting the owner's diverse tastes in books, music, décor, and everything else. We span the spectrum in organizational skills, but the typical Indigo dwelling is a symphony of elegant chaos- often cluttered and packed with books and papers, but not filthy. (It's that learning thing.) Our homes won't make it into decorator's magazines, but we know where everything is, and are comfortable with it. This doesn't mean that we don't get clutter fatigue- there is a certain stage of life where accumulation has to give way to dispersal.

Karen, was behaving strangely. Her grades were declining rapidly and Karen refused to do her work. There were inconsistencies in her learning behavior. She would learn very rapidly and then shut down; she was restless and unable to focus. After describing her behavior to a counselor, it was suspected that she may have ADD/ADHD and that she needed testing. Karen's mother had reached a point of despair and hopelessness.

When interacting with and caring for your Indigo/Crystal child you need to remember that your child is very different to you. What worked for you as a child will not work for them.
 
The main areas where you will need to adjust are the following:
 
The Indigo/Crystal child is a Right Brain oriented being. The Indigo/Crystal is Super Sensitive to environmental stress. The Indigo/Crystal child is sensitive to food and will often develop Food Allergies.

Indigos of all ages are frustrated by the shallowness of society at large, because they like to dig deeply into things that interest them. If TLC or the Discovery channel runs an in-depth series of documentaries on a subject the Indigo is interested in, they are in hog heaven. But heaven forbid if the subject is superficially approached or lightly referred to, because Indigos want to know EVERYTHING, and RIGHT NOW. (And I say, thank God and the Cold War for the Internet.)

Jesse and Mattea are two typical Indigo Children. Jesse, the older of the two, was born in 1987. He was "a ruler on another planet," but an accident caused him to fall into the womb of his mother Renee Weddle and thus he was born on Earth. Jesse prefers the name he was called in his previous life, Thomas, and is frequently in communication with people from that planet where he used to live. He is very sensitive to what other people are feeling, "sometimes to the point where it causes him anxiety" and can read their thoughts. Jesse's younger sister Mattea was born in 1990. Mattea remembers choosing Renee to be her mother so she could teach her "how to be goofy and silly." Mattea, too was probably royalty in a previous life. In this life she speaks with fairies and with gnomes and experiences unusual voices and lights. Jesse and Mattea both are often frustrated by their parents' inability to answer all of their spiritual questions. Sometimes, in fact, it seems that they have the wisdom to be teachers more than their parents do.

What is an Indigo Child? And why do we call them Indigo? First, the definition:
 
An Indigo child is one who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes and shows a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This pattern has common unique factors that suggest that those who interact with them (parents, in particular) change their treatment and upbringing of them in order to achieve balance. To ignore these new patterns is to potentially create imbalance and frustration in the mind of this precious new life. The subject of this chapter is to identify, qualify, and validate the attributes of an Indigo Child.

They go by many names, such as Star Kids, Indigos or Crystalline Children. Whatever they're called, believers say this group of prodigies started appearing about 30 years ago and may now make up as much as 90 percent of the population under ten. We hear about the new children and how they are changing our world. The Indigo children are here making a difference now, but what's next? For the past seven years Steve Rother has been receiving divinely inspired information from a collective of angels simply known as "the Group." He and his partner Barbara have presented this information to delegations at the United Nations on two continents on five separate occasions. In 1997 the Group spoke of the Crystal children as possibilities in human evolution. In spite of what we see on the news, the Group says that we are moving forward rapidly. Recently I learned that one of the boys who murdered fellow classmates in April at a Littleton, Colorado high school had taken Ritalin, a drug that stimulates the central nervous system of prepubescent children the way amphetamines do in an adult. As society has embraced this drug, word of its power has spread. I hear or read about it every week, and it is provoking profound changes in the way I think and the way I act. Not long ago someone gave me a copy of a report stating that the United States military will not consider for training in the armed services any one who has a history of taking Ritalin. That kind of says it all, even without knowing the specifics.
