Murti: A representation of God or deity that has been sanctified by worship. A murti can be symbolic; a recognizable human figure, as in the image of a saint.

Bimba (Sanskrit) Sometimes vimba, vimva. An image or reflection; also frequently used for the disk of the sun or moon, and consequently for a ball or hemisphere.

VISUALIZATION: The process of forming mental images. Magickal visualization consists of forming images of needed goals during ritual. It is also used to direct personal power and natural energies for various purposes during magick, including charging and forming of the magick circle.

Simulacra [plural of Latin simulacrum image, likeness, phantom]

The kama-rupic images left in the astral light by the reincarnating ego after death, which resemble the former living physical body in appearance but in fact are disintegrating shells only -- kama-rupas which all too often are the "spirits" of the departed of the seance room.

IMITATIVE MAGIC

Or "Image Magic". The use of images and imitations of real things in order to affect them. Any ritual can enact symbolically what is desred to happen in real life. It has both positive and negative sides. A phobia can be cured by transferring it to an animal which can then be destroyed (in the imagination). Or one can conjure the image of a hated person and use it to wreak vengeance on that person. Visualization is effectively used in curing cancer.

Tselem (Hebrew) A form, image, likeness; a shadowy image, a shadow. Hence also the astral "shadow" of the human physical body -- the model-body or linga-sarira. It corresponds to the Sanskrit chhayas: in the tselem of 'elohim was made 'Adam (Zohar iii, 76, Crem ed.), i.e., in the image of the pitris was fashioned mankind (cf Genesis 1:27); but not only "in the image" but likewise of the substance of the shadow itself humanity was formed; in other words, the pitris projected their astral shadows which became the lower principles of the individuals of the human race.

A ghost, apparition, or hobgoblin, in theosophical writing applied to elementals elementaries, kama-rupic shells, and astral images.

VISUALIZATION: the process of forming clear mental images by using the imagination and memory. An important part of magical practices, and is a function of the Conscious Mind.  Imagined pictures used to see the unseeable.

Astral Projection:

An OOBE or Psi talent that may involve traveling GESP with the image of a body and/or the separation of a “less dense” body from the normal physical one.

THOUGHT FORM - Literally a thought image or desire that has taken form within the astral substance or astral dimension. (WOTS)

NOUS: Also noetic. The principle of the cosmic or divine mind or soul responsible for the rational order of the cosmos. In Neo-Platonism, the image of the absolute good, containing the cosmos of intelligible beings.

Tarot - A deck of (usualy) 78 cards which hold images that connect the diviner with the energies. The cards can be used to determine a wide range of things as well as being part of a specific ritual.

Scrying - Any form of divination which involves gazing at or into something, such as a crystal ball or black mirror, to observe psychically-perceived images.
