Satti or Suttee, (Sanskrit). The burning of living widows together with their dead husbands - a custom now happily abolished in India; lit., "a chaste and devoted wife".

pati-guru
lit., “husband-spiritual master.” A term of respect addressed to a man by his wife.

Chhaya (Sanskrit) "Shade" or " Shadow". The name of a creature produced by Sanjna, the wife of Surya, from herself (astral body). Unable to endure the ardour of her husband, Sanjna left Chhaya in her place as a wife, going herself away to perform austerities. Chhaya is the astral image of a person in esoteric philosophy.

Mathers, Moina: Moina (or Mina) Mathers was born Mina Bergson on February 28, 1865, and died July 25, 1928. She was the wife of MacGregor Mathers, one of the founding members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, and probably contributed the bulk of the Order''s study material and methods by channeling via the Ouija Board. After the death of her husband in 1918, she continued to be active in the order, establishing a temple called Alpha et Omega.

Sita (Sanskrit) A furrow; Rama's wife, so named because she is fabled to have sprung from a furrow made by King Janaka while plowing the ground to prepare it for a sacrifice instituted by him to obtain progeny. She was considered an avatara of Lakshmi, Vishnu's consort in the heaven-world. In the Ramayana she is exiled with her husband, stolen by Ravana of Lanka, and finally rescued.
