| ARTICLES RELATED TO Houses | | | | | | Houses: House facing a Street or
Lane It
is our tradition from time immemorial to erect a statue of Lord Vinayaka
(Elephant God) or the figure of an elephant, as a remedial measure in the case
of the entrance of a house or building faces a lane or a street.(The lane or
street jutting into the house of building)
The rule
says that it is a great defect to have a house facing a lane or street, and
those who live in such a house will lose peace of mind.

| | | | Houses: THE PENTAGRAMTHE PENTAGRAM
The pentagram, or five-pointed star,
may be the most misunderstood religious symbol around these days. Being the
most common symbol of Neo-Pagan Witchcraft, it has nevertheless been denigrated
by movie and publishing industries which seem 'hell-bent' on connecting it with
Satanism and other malevolent practices. However, like the Roman Cross or
Crucifix, it is only when the symbol is INVERTED that it alludes to negativity.
And even then, there are exceptions, as we shall see.

| | | | | Houses: Ethics is a Means to YogaAll aspirants commit mistakes now in
jumping to Samadhi and Dhyana all at once as soon as they leave their houses
without caring a bit for ethical perfection. The mind remains in the same
condition although they have practiced meditation for fifteen years. They have
the same jealousy, hatred, idea of superiority, pride, egoism, etc. Meditation
and Samadhi come by themselves when one has the ethical perfection.
From "Easy Steps to
Yoga" by Sri Swami Sivananda.

| | | | Houses: Assess Success With Internal Auditing
Often what you call success is judged by others as failure. This was G D Birla's philosophical reply to reporters who asked him to comment on his success in building one of the largest business houses in the country. When you look back and attempt to analyse what you really achieved in life and whether you could call yourself successful, you will find that you are unable to define "success". That's because with every new stage in life, your perception of success changes.

Destiny
All the
defects, blasphemy and curses by sages on the house site should be expiated by
performing suitable purification ceremonies and worships before one attempts to
start the construction work of a house on such a site. Maya, the celestial
architect, had explained the easy ways and means of identifying the nature of
the soil. According to Maya, the master of the house who is going to construct
the house should with his own hands dig out a square pit one cubit side and one
cubit depth at the eastern direction or at the middle of the site
(Brahmasthala).

| | | | Houses: Pure Consciousness: Nirvikalp Samadhi
The nature of Atman is pure consciousness, and though the phenomena are perceived to be taking place, in reality they are only aspects of consciousness. Consciousness is not affected by them. The Atman is 'hidden’ inside all of us, as a bee is hidden inside a lotus flower. It will be futile to seek it in the water or air outside.

Bhava bala:
Literally means the strengths of the houses in the chart. Described in a number of the classics, it is a complex mathematical process for arriving at the relative strengths of the houses in a chart. The overall use is that the stronger a house, the more it will be able to give its best results. The weaker each house is will be an indicator of weakened or malefic results.

| | | | Houses: Life in the Spirit World - Part One There is only
one way in which we can be given information about what it is like in the
Spirit world. That information has to come first hand from someone who is
there. There are two ways in which someone can go to the Spirit world: either
temporarily, through some type of out of body experience or expansion of
consciousness; or permanently through death.
