Helps the heart: Controlling Emotional Turmoil

The world today suffers more from emotional and mental turmoil than from anything else. In fact, it is just the partial truth. Almost all suffering and most problems have emotional base. For instance, it is well known that emotionally disturbed people are more prone to accidents than others.

David Spangler writes: As man continues to grow in his recognition of what is within himself, he will increasingly realise that the creative source of his world is indeed in his own consciousness... When man knows the reality of the power within his consciousness to create inner changes, then he can make those personal changes, knowing that they will be positively reflected in his environment. Helps the heart: Be Freed From the Bondage of Karma

Hindu Quotes: Be Freed From the Bondage of Karma

Whatever I am offered in devotion with a pure heart--a leaf, a flower, fruit, or water--I partake of that love offering. Whatever you do, make it an offering to me--the food you eat, the sacrifices you make, the help you give, even your suffering. In this way you will be freed from the bondage of karma, and from its results both pleasant and painful. Then, firm in renunciation and yoga, with your heart free, you will come to me.

- Bhagavad Gita 9:26-28

Helps the heart: Seeing Work as a Spiritual Practice

Susan, a telephone service representative for a large health insurance company, once taught us an extremely important lesson about "work as a spiritual practice."

She was known as one of the best at her job. Whenever she received a call from an angry person complaining that a huge bill had not yet been paid, she silently kept a spiritual mantra going in her head as she listened to the caller. It helped her maintain a peaceful mind and reminded her that the caller was a spiritual being in his or her own right. She kept connecting with the caller, heart to heart, in every word she said and patiently demonstrated her accurate listening. Soon, angry callers became calm, and began to trust that she would really do her best to help them.

Muslim Quotes: A Clear Victory

Behold! We have given you a clear victory that you may be absolved of the sins of your past and those yet to follow and that the Lord may perfect His favor to you and guide you and assist you with His invincible helping hand. Helps the heart: Pilgrimage of Faith - Chishti's Shrine

Pilgrims are flocking to the shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer on the occasion of the annual Urs. Popularly known as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, the dargah symbolises a touching synthesis of the hopes and prayers of various faiths and communities.

Both Hindus and Muslims remember Moinuddin Chishti as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, revering him for his simple teachings and eclectic philosophy. The Khwaja believed that no spiritual exercise, penitence, prayer, or vigil had greater value than bringing succour to distressed hearts and helping the needy. He directed all his efforts towards alleviation of human misery.

Helps the heart: Meditation - a Stress Buster

Meditation serves as a medicine for stress and provides sound mental health.

Stress can create havoc in our lives as it can lead to mental and heart ailments. In order to deal with it scientifically and practically, we must first identify the various factors that cause stress.

Swami Vishvas Ji explains: "Stress is a mismanagement of time! When we spend too much time in the past or future, it steals away our lovely present moments. A preoccupied mind can never be at rest. Traveling into the past or future can help us learn from past mistakes or set goals and visions for the future. But if we make the past or future our permanent home - the problem begins!

Helps the heart: Techniques In Contemplation

As a common precursor, when you sit down to practice exercises in concentration and contemplation, precede your sessions with a prayer to God or Guru, and invoke their presence and Grace.

Smile and fill your heart with a recollection of joy and happiness that you may have experienced in the past. Feel God's light suffusing and relaxing the entire body, and gently, rhythmically, slow down the process of breathing. It always helps to keep your eyes shut and focused on the area of the third eye. Closing the eyes ensures stillness of the mind. The attention should always be turned inward, that is, we should try and lose awareness of our bodies and feel the consciousness being sucked into the vacuum-like depths of the eternity.

Helps the heart: The Indigo Children

The first new child that we will explore is the Indigo Child. Below is what I wrote about them in my second book. To learn what is happening now, you will find in this issue a preview from Lee Carroll and Jan Tober's soon-to-be-published new book on the the Indigo Children.

We also are offering the perspectives of two doctors and a psychologist on the issue of so-called Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, which in many cases may be the application of a disease label to a perfectly healthy, creative Indigo Child. Drs. Virtue, Upledger, and Baughman propound sane, humane alternatives that can actually help our children, instead of using addictive, mind-altering drugs to make them ''behave," and they describe the shocking effect of Ritalin and other prescription drugs, including a horrific toll in childhood death by heart failure.

Helps the heart: The New Children Have Arrived - Caring For Your Indigo Child

Many have asked; what or who are these Indigo Children and how can I help my child, my grandchild, or the student in my class who seems to be one?

Indigo Children are head strong and heart smart. They do not want to do it your way, and often have creative or non- conformist ways of doing things. Many are labeled ADD/ ADHD because of their tendency for activity, inattention and doing things fast. Some have past life recall, trouble sleeping, night terrors, and can "see" or hear things at home especially at night. They have extreme emotional, physical, and spiritual sensitivities that make them "fussy" eaters, "different" from other kids in their class and avoidant of loud noise, people's energy, and touch sensitive. Some days they will be happy, and then, after being around other children, they can have a huge emotional meltdown, angry outburst, or tantrum.

Helps the heart: Encyclopedia - Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) which involves measuring bodily processes such as blood pressure, heart rate, skin temperature, galvanic skin response (sweating), and muscle tension in order to raise a subject's awareness and conscious control of these functions. A philanthropist is someone who devotes his time, money, or effort towards helping others. The label is most often applied to someone who gives large amounts to charity. See also philanthropy.
