Healer Dictionary: Asclepius and dream healing

Asclepius was the Greek god of healing. His healing sanctuaries were found throughout the known Hellenic world. This tradition was active for almost 2000 years from around 1300 BCE to 500CE. In times of illness and when the physician was unable to help, one would turn to Asclepius for healing. Healing would come about through a visitation of the healing god (or one of his totems – the dog or snake) in a dream. The dream would then result in a spontaneous healing or an indication of what had to be done or undone to bring about healing.

Healer Dictionary: Surya, The Eternal Healer

The Hindu scriptures present the Sun as the most potent god. There are only five Puranic gods and the Sun is one of them but the images of the remaining four gods Ñ Vishnu, Shiva, Ganesh and Durga Ñ are also found in Him. In Surya Sahastranam several synonyms of the Sun are actually Vishnus names and at one place He is also called Jyotirlinga, representing Shiva. Mahakal is both the name of Shiva and the Sun.

Healer Dictionary: What is Prana?

Prana or ki is that life energy which keeps the body alive and healthy. In Greek it is called 'pneuma', in Polynesian 'mana', and in Hebrew 'ruah', which means 'breath of life'. The healer projects prana or life energy or 'the breath of life' to the patient, thereby, healing the patient. It is through this process that this so-called 'miraculous healing' is accomplished.
Basically, there are three major sources of prana: solar prana, air prana and ground prana. Certain areas or places tend to have more prana than others. Some of these highly energized areas tend to become healing centers.

Healer Dictionary: Distant Healing

In my work with in-person and distant healing, I've noticed a huge distinction between ordinary chi, ki, or prana, and that which is governed by the soul and kundalini energies. The universe isn't simply composed of a roiling ocean of prana-there are differing frequencies. From the relative prana to that prana which exists nearest the absolute, the energy is more refined on evolved levels of existence.

Healer Dictionary: Healing the Human Heart of Pain

It's not surprising to see both Hindus and Muslims praying at the dargah of the thirteenth century sufi, Shaikh Nizamuddin Aulia (1244-1325), in New Delhi. A refugee who had sought shelter here along with his parents, when Bukhara was subjected to repeated Mongol invasions, Nizamuddin never went back to the Central Asian Republic. Living here amongst the common people, he stressed that a mystic should transcend all barriers of religion, race and language in dealing with human beings.

Healer Dictionary: Healer, Heal Thy Self

Many healing practitioners have shared with me their bewilderment over assuming illnesses or conditions from their clients, especially when they truly felt that their intentions were of loving service to another. Why would a healer or anyone become ill through healing others?
