Harvey Atkin

This is a term in filmmaking and is used to describe the technique by which a filmmaker places the sound of a human voice (or voices) over images shown on the screen. These sounds may or may not be related to the images being shown. Sometimes voiceovers can create ironic counterpoint with the images being shown; also, sometimes they can be random voices not directly connected to the people seen on the screen. Prior to having his own animated series, Mario starred as a regular character on the Donkey Kong-based segments of CBS's Saturday Supercade. Super Mario World, the third cartoon produced by DiC, is based loosely on the Super NES video game of the same name. The show takes place on Dinosaur Land, and stars Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, and Yoshi, as well as a preadolescent caveman named Oogtar (who did not exist in the games). Unlike in the game, Yoshi's Island was populated with cavemen instead of Yoshies, and many of the locations had different names.
