Norwich is connected to Peterborough via Kings Lynn by the A47, the (port of) Ipswich by the A140, Cambridge (and the motorway M11 to London) by the A11.

The medieval period is represented by the 11th-century cathedral, 12th-century castle (now a museum) and a large number of parish churches as well as a few houses and public buildings.
