Hinduism Dictionary on Holy feet
holy feet: The feet of God, a God, satguru or any holy person, often represented by sacred sandals, called sri paduka in Sanskrit and tiruvadi in Tamil. The feet of a divine one are considered especially precious as they represent the point of contact of the Divine and the physical, and are thus revered as the source of grace. The sandals or feet of the guru are the object of worship on his jayanti (birthday), on Guru Purnima and other special occasions. See: padapuja, paduka, satguru.

 | | | Guru Purnima Dictionary: Holy Days in Hinduism - Guru PurnimaGuru
Purnima:
THE
FULL moon day in the month of Ashad (July-August) is an extremely auspicious
and holy day of Guru Purnima. On this day, sacred to the memory of the great
sage, Bhagavan Sri Vyasa, Sannyasins settle at some place to study and
discourse on the thrice-blessed Brahma Sutras composed by Maharishi Vyasa, and engage
themselves in Vedantic, philosophical investigation.
From Hindu Fasts & Festivals by Sri Swami Sivananda.

 | | | Guru Purnima Dictionary: Hindu Worship - Chitra PurnimaThe
psychological effect of this worship, done on the very first full moon day of
every year (Chaitra is the first of the twelve months), is to vividly remind us
of the higher power that maintains a constant watch over every act of ours on
this earth-plane. This memory serves as an invisible check on one's conduct.
The conception of the Chitra Guptas as located within each shoulder is a
powerful inducement to keep oneself engaged in constantly doing good actions
only.
From Hindu Fasts & Festivals by Sri Swami Sivananda.

ShivaSravana, a Month Devoted to Shiva
The devout spend the entire month of Sravana in
austerities and worship of Shiva, culminating in the Sravana Purnima on Raksha
Bandhan day. Shiva is beyond the gunas, as His trident represents all three,
sattva, rajas and tamas. The elephant skin attire indicates that he is beyond
pride; the tiger skin symbolises his going beyond lust, and the snake around
his neck represents wisdom and eternity.
