"Gloomy Sunday" (Szomorú Vasárnap) is a song written by the Hungarian self-taught pianist and composer Rezső Seress in 1933. Emotions are given to us for our benefit. In fact, everything in this world is for our benefit. It is the use or misuse of worldly objects that brings about positive or negative results.
 
Emotions like fear and anxiety are meant to help us. We must fear certain things - like the misuse of weapons, and adharma or wrong action. Without fear we could act irresponsibly and end up hurting ourselves. This is the positive aspect of fear. But when fear becomes excessive or prolonged, or when we fear the wrong things, it can be harmful.

 As thoughts are energetic electrical currents coming into the brain, resisting thoughts means we are opposing the natural flow of electrical impulses through our brains. Since resistance is opposition and opposition is the condition of being in conflict or being antagonistic toward, we are creating conflict within ourselves when we resist our naturally occurring thoughts. We are placing our thoughts opposite to or in contrast with our selves. We make our thoughts into an obstacle, an enemy.

The five basic elements - kshit i (soil), jal (water), panak (fire), gagan (sky or ether) and sameer (air) from which life has emerged - have all been objects of worship, forming an integral part of Indian tradition. The elements are deified, as they are believed to be protectors of jeevan tatva (life). But they can protect and bless us only if we give them due respect.
