Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia - Global Consciousness Project

The Global Consciousness Project, also called the EGG Project, is one of the most significant of current research projects into parapsychology. Based at Princeton, the project researches into the theory that the human consciousness may create an external field which is not detectable via conventional means. Working on the assumption that while the field of an individual's consciousness is not measurable, the combined field of a large number of people who are experiencing similar thoughts or feelings ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia - Global Consciousness
Global Consciousness is the idea that there is a collective consciousness in which all individual consciousness participates in, in some ways comparable with an electromagnetic field. There are many hypotheses as to how the field might operate. A project in Princeton University called Global Consciousness Project is created to study it. It was started in 1998 by Roger D. Nelson. There is a hypothesis that the global consciousness has been getting stronger for the last decade because of communications networks which creat ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Global Consciousness Project - Research

Their research works by examining the output of hardware random number generators located around the world. The remote devices have been dubbed Princeton Eggs, where EGG is short for electrogaiagram, a play of words on electroencephalogram [1]. The current theory holds that events that have a significant human impact affect the randomness of these generators in a statistically significant way. Roger D. Nelson started by reviewing two decades of experiments from the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab (PEAR) which repea ...

Global Consciousness Project: : Morphic fields can now be measured scientifically!

In the laboratory of Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research (PEAR) at Princeton University/USA, research on the topic "mind-machine-interaction" has been ongoing since the late 1970s. As far back as the late 80s, extensive studies proved that diodes with white noise might be used as an interface between man and machine. Since 1998, worldwide about 50 such diodes with white noise have been measuring not only the consciousness of individuals but also the global consciousness of mankind within a study called "Global Consciousness Project". The results have been published and indicate synchronized reaction of all diodes to incidents of worldwide interest such as the war in Iraq, Lady Diana’s funeral or the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001 on the World Trade Centre in New York.

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia - Precognition

Precognition is a form of extra-sensory perception which allows a "percipient" to perceive information about future places or events before they happen (as opposed to merely predicting them based on deductive reasoning and current knowledge). A related term, presentiment is used to refer to information about future events which may not present itself in conscious form but rather in the form of emotions or feelings at the autonomic level. These terms are considered by some to be s ...

Global Consciousness Project: Morphogenetic fields according to Robert Gilman, Terence Mckenna and Rupert Sheldrake

According to its founder, the biologist Rupert Sheldrake, a morphogenetic field, is an equivalent to an electromagnetic field that carries information only, not energy, and are available throughout time and space without any loss of intensity after they have been created.

Morphogenetic fields are created by the patterns of physical forms. They help guide the formation of later similar systems where a newly forming system "tunes into" a previous system by having within it a "seed" that resonates with a similar seed in the earlier form.

Morphogenetic fields can be used to describe how the human consciousness is shared. The Morphogenetic fields therefore play the main role in the idea that humanity at one point in time will go thru a dramatic collective shift in consciousness. A shift that will happen when the critical mass for a shift is reached, or in other words, when a certain number of spiritually awakened individuals are reached.

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Precognition - History

Throughout history people have claimed to have precognitive abilities, and the "gift of prophecy" is a common feature of most religions. Just as prevalent are anecdotal accounts of precognitions from the general public, such as someone "knowing" who is on the other end of a ringing telephone before they answer it, or having a dream of unusual clarity with elements of content that later turn out to be events that actually occur. The French term, déjà vu, meaning "already seen" was coined by French psychic researcher, Emile Boirac to describ ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Holism in science - Holistic science in academe

Perhaps due to the inherent multidisciplinary nature of holistic science, academic institutions have been slow to come forward with degree programs for it. Those that have done so include Schumacher College in the UK, which offers an MSc degree program in Holistic Science. Several universities have set up centers dedicated to one or more scientific fields where holistic approaches are common. These include the University of Michigan's Center for the Study of Complex Systems, Princeton University's Global Consciousness Project, Rice University's Cognitive Sciences Program, and the ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia - Applications of randomness

Randomness has many uses in gambling, divination, statistics, cryptography, art, etc. Note that these uses may have different requirements when it comes to statistical randomness or unpredictability, which in turn leads to different randomization methods. For example, applications in cryptography have strict requirements, whereas other uses (such as generating a "quote of the day") don't need more than "shallow" randomness. Applications of randomness - Early uses. Applications of randomness - ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia - Psychokinesis

Psychokinesis (literally "mind-movement") or PK is the more commonly used term today for what in the past was known as telekinesis (literally "distant-movement"). It refers to the psi ability to influence the behavior of matter by mental intention (or possibly some other aspect of mental activity) alone. As of 2004 the term remote influencing is becoming widely used for certain kinds of psychokinesis. Psychokinesis - Psychokinetic events. There have been anecdotal reports of such appare ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia - Parapsychology

Parapsychology is the study of the evidence of mental awareness or influence of external objects without interaction from known physical means. Most objects of study fall within the realm of "mind-to-mind" influence (such as extra-sensory perception and telepathy), "mind-to-environment" influence (such as psychokinesis) and "environment-to-mind" (such as hauntings). The premiere professional organization, the Parapsychological Association (PA), is a member in good standing of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Holism in science - Examples of holistic fields of study in science

Many scientific disciplines are affected by the holistic paradigm. Some of these are widely accepted parts of mainstream science, while others are variously considered to be protoscientific or even pseudoscientific. Holism in science - Systems biology. A fledgling field in which scientists endeavor to harness large quantities of biological data to gain insights into the functioning of entire biological systems (i.e. plants, animals, organisms). See the Systems biology article for more inf ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Applications of randomness - Science

Random numbers have uses in physics (such as noise resonance studies), engineering, and operations research. Many methods of statistical analysis, such as the bootstrap method, require random numbers. Monte Carlo methods in physics and computer science require random numbers to function. Applications of randomness - Statistical sampling. Statistical practice is based on statistical theory which, itself is founded on the concept of randomness. Many elements of statistical practice depend on the emulation of ...

Yogic Yang Spiral - Group meditations in yoga. The practice of group meditation and prayer is nothing new. From time immemorial in yoga and other religious practises people have come together to worship, pray or meditate. Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Parapsychology - How science views the field

In the scientific disciplines there is a belief that all claims should be treated with scientific skepticism. Mainstream science believes that after examining psi claims for over a century, there has been significant difficulty in merging the results of parapsychology studies with other fields of science. As a result, many in the scientific community think that parapsychology is not a real science, that psi phenomena do not exist, and that parapsychology is a pseudoscience. Many scientists and skeptical observers of the field believe that so ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Psychokinesis - Psychokinetic events

There have been anecdotal reports of such apparent phenomena throughout history in various cultures. For example, poltergeist activity is typically characterized by objects being moved without apparent explanation, though some people claim that this is accounted for as unintentional PK by children going through puberty. As with all psi phenomena, there is wide disagreement and controversy within the sciences and even within the field of parapsychology as to the very existence of psychokinesis and the validity or interpretation of PK-related experiments. To date, there has never been a ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Applications of randomness - Literature, music and art

The clearest example of randomness occurs in the problem of arranging items in an art exhibit. Usually this is avoided by using a theme. As John Cage pointed out, "While there are many ways that sounds might be produced [ie, in terms of patterns], few are attempted". Similarly, the arrangement of art in exhibits is often deliberately non-random. One case of this was Hitler's attempt to portray modern art in the worst possible light by arranging works in worst possible manner. A case can be made for trying to make art in the worst possible way; ie, either as anti- ...

Global Consciousness Project: Encyclopedia II - Holism in science - Opposition to reductionism

Some advocates of holism refer to orthodox science as reductionist science or the reductionist paradigm or greedy reductionism. This is a compact way to allude to a tendency of classical science towards the modular: that is, to break systems down into manageable parts for study. The holistic premise is that there is a possible qualitative difference between an entire system and its parts: that modularisation may fail. As applied to science, holists may generally assert that this difference can warrant the kind of ...
