The two guiding principles of RADIX are:

  1. safety, in which the student may explore deep, painful issues in an atmosphere of trust and comfort; and
  2. exploration, primarily of the somatic experience.

Charles Kelly, Ph.D., developed RADIX, combining techniques and principles from Reichian and Gestalt therapies, Erickson’s hypnotherapy, bioenergetics, and Bates method of vision training. Gestalt: Encyclopedia - Breakcore

Breakcore is a loosely defined electronic music style that brings together elements of jungle, hardcore techno and IDM into a breakbeat-oriented sound that encourages speed, complexity, impact and maximum sonic density. Similar to Punk or Jazz music; Breakcore does not adhere to a predefined set of stylistic 'rules', instead following a looser set of musical ideals. The very nature of breakcore is anti-establishment, often using production techniques or sounds to intentionally alienate the non-breakcore listener. Musically, breakcore is centered around the de ...

Gestalt: Encyclopedia II - Aesthetics - Aesthetics in the arts

Aesthetics - Visual arts. The field of aesthetics has enjoyed a rebirth in recent years. Modern art, particularly post-WWII up through the 1980s, in fact strongly reacted against notions of beauty. Some theorists (Hal Foster) have described this as an "anti-aesthetic." As media such as painting were deconstructed and explored to their very foundational or essential elements, creating an aesthetically beautiful work was no longer the key. Instead, artists focused on conceptual questions such as 'what is art?' or ' ...

Gestalt: Encyclopedia II - Breakcore - Breakcore History

The style began to emerge at the peak of rave in years of 1993–1994. In Berlin and Cologne, the Bass Terror Crew provided a harder version of breakbeat by playing records on 45rpm instead of the intended 33rpm. At the same time, former hardcore techno DJ Tanith started a series of parties with 'breakcore' in bold fat letters on the flyer. As hardcore techno artists were feeling a staleness in the Roland TR-909 and Roland TB-303 drum machine-based sounds, the commercial "childish" elements in Dutch gabber and the overall assaults of ...

Gestalt: Encyclopedia II - Top 40 - Key contributors

Top 40 - Todd Storz. Credit for the format is widely credited to Todd Storz, who was the director of radio station KOWH-AM in Omaha, Nebraska in the early 1950s. At that time typical AM radio programming consisted largely of blocks of pre-scheduled, sponsored programs of a wide variety, including radio dramas and variety shows. Local popular music hits, if they made it on the air at all, had to be worked in between these segments. Storz noted the great response certain songs got from the record-buying public and ...

Gestalt: Encyclopedia II - Holonomic brain theory - Lens-defined model of brain function

According to this theory, each sense functions as a lens, refocusing wave patterns either by perceiving a specific pattern or context as swirls, or by discerning discrete grains or quantum units. David Bohm has said that if you take the lenses away, what you are left with is a hologram. According to Pribram and Bohm, "future orientation" is the essence of cognitive function, which they have attempted to define through use of the Fourier theorem and quantum mechanical formulae. According to Pribram, the tuning of wave frequency in cell ...
