Free Will: Encyclopedia - Free will
Free will is the philosophical doctrine that holds that our choices are ultimately up to ourselves. The phrase "up to ourselves" is vague, and, just like free will itself, admits of a variety of interpretations. Because of this ambiguity, the utility of the concept of free will is questioned by some. Several logically independent questions can be asked about free will. Free will - Determinism versus indeterminism. Determinism holds that each state of affairs is necessitated (determined) by the states of aff ...

Free Will: Overcoming Fate With Free Will

Parmarthi Raina A disciple once asked Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswami of Sringeri: Often, we blame fate for our failures. Are our lives governed by fate? Can free will shape our lives? Which is stronger, fate or free will?

The conflict between fate and free will arises only if we consider them as two different things. Both are karma or action - fate is the result of past karma, and present karma is free will.

Free Will: Encyclopedia - Context-free grammar

In linguistics and computer science, a context-free grammar (CFG) is a formal grammar in which every production rule is of the form V → w where V is a non-terminal symbol and w is a string consisting of terminals and/or non-terminals. The term "context-free" comes from the fact that the non-terminal V can always be replaced by w, regardless of the context in which it occurs. A formal language is context ...

Free Will: Encyclopedia - Argument from free will

The argument from free will is an argument against the Existence of God which contends that omniscience and free will are incompatible, and that any conception of God which incorporates both properties is therefore inherently contradictory. The argument goes as follows: By definition, if someone has free will, then at any point in time they may either choose to do a certain thing or choose not to do it. By definition, an omniscient God knows everything that will happen in the future, including all of the choices ...

Possibly as a result of the sixteen year-old Fraser's influence as a songwriter the bass guitar is far more prominent here than on the previous album, and indeed is used more widely than most other bands' albums do. The instrument is used as a rhythm guitar, driving the songs, ...
