Religious persecution

Even to this very day, religious persecution still exists in many countries all around the world.

While the situation has arguably improved in many countries, religious freedoms still vary by the country and area you live in.

The sad thing is these conflicts do not just exist between various religions, but also between different sects, and sometimes even different churches.

The troubles in Ireland for instance was largely as a result of fighting between Catholics and protestants.

It is unfortunate that this remains, for sure. There are parts of Europe that really quite harshly police religions, and others, refusing to allow there to be a 'state religion' squash all.

The Irish situation-that has to be the worst possible expression of religious intolerance.

I have seen this in schools and the work place. It seems so many people can not just accept that others unlike them are allowed to have differences no matter it be race, religion or anything else. Really makes a person wonder if we have accomplished much of anything in the past leading up to current days.

I live in the US and here there is not a lot of main stream religious persecution, but there is a lot of persecution based on race. It seems like no matter how hard people try there is always something to gripe about. I don't think that people realize that no matter what race you are or what religion you are, when it all comes down to the facts people in general are pretty much the same.

Its the human psychology that is the basics. Our basic instincts are the same, survival (domination), multiplication. The overall behavior pattern is govern by many factors, e.g., social interactions, culture, upbringing. Depending on these factors few parts of the basic instincts dominate. When people have nothing else to compare (unknown ppl) they compare race, as it is very easy to distinguish. If all were of the same race then it would be looks, or money etc., however, the fact remains is that in order to be superior there should be something seen inferior in others. This was all about common ppl.; unless one is knowledgeable wont understand this fact and get rid of it.
