Re: Why can't all religions just get along with eachother?
This may sound a bit outlandish, but can you imagine if someday people were to have a religion that took the best aspects of every other religion and combined them?
Some sort of way that everyone can be in agreement, and still do their own thing to some extent.
Re: Why can't all religions just get along with eachother?
Peace,
It's not crazy to want what you want. The problem would be in the giving up of various dogmatic belief systems that exclude all other belief systems no matter the similarities. I would welcome this but I would not make it a religion per say. Instead I would like to think of it as a way to make direct contact with the divine under the umbrella of some general guidelines similar to those of the Buddhist Precepts or the 10 Commandments of Judaism & Christianity and indirectly in the Qur’an, the Jainist concept of Ahimsa seems wonderful as well not to forget some of the ideas brought forth by the Baha’i folks.
The time has come for unity and not division. It is far better to discover what unites us then to determine what divides us. Division like destruction is easy, unity is like building is harder to accomplish. But, in the end which is more beneficial? All war, killing and the breaking of every precept, law and commandment stems from the idea that some of us are better than others of us or that some of us have the right not to share our prosperity with our brothers and sisters. >> > >
I wish for what you wish for, I think that with all the bitterness and division we have in the world we would need the heavens to part and the unmistaken-able voice of the Creator to call forth the new boundaries of truth for all mankind. But until that day what can be done? Well we can start with ourselves: Along time ago I ran across the following lines that resonate a course of action that may be the only solution to your question at this time:
Start With Yourself
When I was young and free and my imagination had no limits, I dreamed of changing the world.
As I grew older and wiser, I discovered the world would not change, so I shortened my sights somewhat and decided to change only my country. But it, too, seemed immovable.
As I grew into my twilight years, in one last desperate attempt, I settled for changing only my family, those closest to me, but alas, they would have none of it.
And now as I lie on my death bed, I suddenly realized:
If I had only changed myself first, then by example I would have changed my family. From their inspiration and encouragement, I would then have been able to better my country and, who knows, I may have even changed the world.

I think that as long as humans are involved in churches, there will always be problems. I know that sounds strange, but I believe it's really true. Be that as it may, I think it will take a miracle to unite all faiths so all humans can be as one. If you look at the history of Christianity, for example, beginning in the New Testament times, you can read in Paul's various letters, how churches were slightly deviating from what Jesus taught. Then the Nicence Creed comes along and is almost forced upon the churches so they would get along. But still there are the Methodists, Lutherans, Baptists, etc. And even now, these churches will tell you that their doctrine is correct when compared to another. So, while it is a great idea that all become one, I stand by my comment that as long as humans are involved, it will never happen.

I completely agree with you. But I think also that the problem lies in the fact that there is room for interpretation, and the fact that the interpretation is being done by imperfect humans.

I think that there surely has been some advancement, very slowly though. I believe in the tolerance for all religions, it's all good if it's caring. Everybody is right in their viewings, it's called mutual respect and we all need a great heaping of it.
