Consecration of the Oneness Temple
Golden City, India, April 22, 2008
Dear Ones,
This article conveys the realities I personally experienced and carefully researched over this past week here in the Golden City where we have witnessed an event, unique in the modern world.
In less than 24 hours nearly a million people from all over India and across the globeNorth and South America, Europe, Russia, Australia, Africa, China and Japantraveled to the newly built Oneness Temple to receive Darshan from, and express gratitude to, Sri Amma and Sri Bhagavan. Such was the outpouringnothing short of miraculousthat no one could have predicted the numbers that arrived, not even in the wildest stretch of the imagination.
The carefully detailed attendance estimates, derived from confirmations, had predicted one million people to visit the Temple over the six-day opening. However, by the morning of the first day, over 600,000 people had arrived! This was far beyond the 150,000 to 200,000 expected for each day and according the train and bus services, another 2.5 to 3 million were on their way to arrive in the coming days! The Oneness facilities could not safely accommodate numbers of this size. Sri Bhagavan, out of his concern for everyone's safety and well beingespecially the ten of thousands of children who were attendingimmediately called an end to the Darshans and Temple ceremony, reconfiguring it into smaller groups to be brought in over longer periods.
Preparations for the Consecration and Temple opening were as carefully charted and executed as the construction of the Temple itself. Over six detailed months of intricate planning went into the logistics of the opening. India's largest and most successful event management company was hired to oversee every aspect. The facilities were painstakingly prepared to accommodate the daily expectations of 120,000 to 150,000 spiritual devotees. The logistical details included shade covered holding areas for 150,000 people at a time with large fans every three meters, continuous fresh water stations, food service and toilet facilities. As the people were directed toward the Temple in groups of five thousand, they did so through three miles of shade-covered pathwaysagain the air refreshed using large fans every three meters, along with the fresh water, food and toilets facilities.
We now move forward together into a World of Oneness.
