Have any of you ever heard of or have any experience with the site called
“The Summit Lighthouse” started by Mark and Elizabeth Prophet?
I am reading a book by them entitled “The Enemy Within” and I was wondering,
because I read some negative “stuff” about them from one individual on the web, if any of you have read this book also.
Thanks in advance,
James

Greetings James,
I will only say about Mark and Elizabeth Claire Prophet, that there has been controverys surrounding them and their work since the beginning. In the hundreds of books I have read over the years, I have personally never read any of theirs. This has been an intentional decision on my part. I have scanned their books in the store, many years ago, and decided their particular brand and branch of teaching was not for me. I am not saying they don't have anything positive to offer, for I truly don't know one hundred percent if they do or don't. I do know they have always been surrounded in a cloud of controversy, (that alone sets me away from them) and they called for people to join them by giving every thing they owned to the organization and that, for me, just went too far. I also 'Googled' "The Summit Lighthouse" after you posted it in your original question and found much negative and some positive feedback on them and their organization. One site posted a letter/blog said to be from their own son denouncing them and what they always preached.
I would suggest that you read for yourself their work and make your own decisions, but keep all this information in mind and not believe it all simply because they, or anyone else for that matter, have printed it.
Many Blessings on your search and continued growth.
Love, Light and Blessings,
Namaste

Essence,
Thank you very much for your reply. Actually since I posted the question about them, I came across a fact that their followers built nuclear shelters after being forewarned by an ascended master. I have already come to the same conclusion you did but not before I learned quite a bit from their book. What’s interesting for me in this search of mine, which is to understand and acknowledge those influences in my subconscious that affect my behavior, is that I come across something that is both positive and negative in the very book explaining it!
One thing I liked in their book is they refer to the dark side of ourselves as the not-self.
So to me that means these inherent not so obvious negative influences which stem from the beginning of time and are quite invisible to the average person can be brought to the surface of our existence by the light of our higher self and bound and released to the light leaving only the self. The pure self. So it's not really a part of us but rather it influences us.
I have so much I want to share on this but for now I must be like the turtle in regards to this and retreat to my shell until I am made ready to come out.
Thanks again,
James

Hi James, Hi Essence, I am happy to have a few minutes to check in on what everyone is sharing here on the site. In a few weeks i hope to be back more regular. This is a great topic.
In regards to the Prophets - i have heard the same mixed messages about them. There is that old saying about teachers - some teach by way of showing what not to do. I have one very dear teacher who is always stirring up controversy and it always brings up the reminder of the duality we are living in.
I haven't read the Enemy Within - but i have been - as so many of us are - learning and working on loving my personal shadow aspects. Not one of the more pleasant parts of growth. This is part of the passage we have to go through to achieve unity. To accept that the high side and the low side both originate within me and that i don't need to fear that "bad wolf" just acknowledge it in a loving way (like a naughty child or a friend who really messes up) and choose to feed the good one. (native story of us all having a good wolf and bad wolf, one on each shoulder and the one which we choose to feed will flourish). The dark side is there but like you said James it is not the pure self - the one who chooses.
There is so much to this issue. I believe it is at the core of alot of humanities problems. Recently i read Kiara Windrider's book Deeksha, The Fire from Heaven - pg 179 he is discussing the teachings of Bhagavan - "We must simply become aware of our inner process without judging or blaming. And we must trust that this divine intelligence is with us as much in the darkness as in the light. When we can finally surrender to the perfection of God witihin the darkness we mysteriously discover that we have emerged once again into the light".
So that takes it beyond duality to the oneness - i intellectually get it but my emotions about "dark" stuff still crop in. Windriders book is excellent, his discussion about what enlightenment is and isn't is great. I have complete confidence we are all moving rapidly in that direction.
Anyway as someone who is still "wrestling within her own shell" and hasn't completely come into "the light", there for has way to many thoughts on this i know you have brought up a great topic and i look forward to hearing what others think on it.
Blessings to you, Namaste, Rainy

From where I am, one who is just beginning to understand all this and as one untainted by
what all the different views are on this subject (The enemy within us), it seems to make perfect sense that we can very well be completely acting out from our subconscious and our subconscious is filled with memories from the beginning of time and from thousands of lifetimes. Memories of things we have done and things that have been done to us. Memories of things we could never even begin to imagine.
If this is true, then one has to realize that you could never recall all of these events that affect our behavior and you could never do anything to purify yourself of things you have no idea is even affecting you. Not only that but what is influencing you and keeping you from the light can be cleverly diquised as light itself.
I don’t believe the wisdom in all of this is to accept that this is part of who we are because I think who we are is pure light and this “enemy within” is really a part of who we think we are (our ego).
I also don’t think we can ignore the aspects of our enemy within that we consciously perceive thinking that if we just don’t give in to these negative impulses we win. I think that represents resisting it instead of conquering it once and for all. “What you resist, persist’.
So what we can do, I feel, is to just give ourselves totally to our higher self and ask that the we be cleansed by the grace of our creator and that the mother, healer aspects of our creator will shine her light in our darkness that we may “see” and after seeing, that we may be empowered to bind and send to the light the darkness we have accumulated thru many lifetimes.
This has been working for me and has been opening my eyes to deep embedded habits in my subconscious. Once I see it, I no longer ignore it; I now release it with the help and grace of all that is pure and holy.
I’d like to also add that I think this enemy within has been allowed in by ourselves over lifetimes and represents karma to us. I believe by the grace of our creator we can be set free from this massive block to our higher selves when we are truly ready to commit to the light.
As Rainy says, this may be the core to humanities problems because we are acting from our subconscious which is full of darkness masquerading as light and we don’t have a clue until we ask our Mother spirit to shine Her light and expose this darkness and release it so that we can be and act from who we really are, which is pure light.
Thanks for listening,
James

Greetings once again my friendly, spiritual duo........LOL and thank you both for such wonderful insights and thought provoking conversation and spiritual growth.
James, First...Thank you for your last post. You truly seemed to have gleaned much information from reading "The Enemy Within" and I appreciate you sharing what you gained from it, for by you doing such I too learned and now can offer another a more insightful opinion on Mark and Elizabeth Claire Prophet and their work if I am every asked. So...for helping me grow and learn I thank you........Thank You!
Now I am going to suggest to you (and anyone else interested) that if at all possible and if you haven't already, that you now read a book by Ken Carey entitled "The Third Millennium: Living in the Posthistoric World", it was originally published as "Starseed: The Third Millennium" way back when.......
I read this book for the first time a little over a decade ago and learned much from it and him. In the first two years I had the book I read it three times. This is somthing I hardly ever do. This book has much to offer.
I have been thinking about it for the last two weeks or so; seems like in conversations with people I have been having lately it keeps coming to mind......So I hunted it down and blew the dust off of it and started scanning it.
This one particular topic keeps coming to mind for me and basically stated, he explains "Ego" this way......
When we..as spiritual beings, descended to this third dimensional plane of existance..Earth..we knew nothing of taking care of a physical body constructed of matter, so.....we set aside a portion of our consciousness to be the 'expert' in doing just this. This portion of our consciousness, our 'EGO' was/is in charge of making sure we remember we have a physical body that needs to be maintained in order to keep it working properly and alive...i.e. we need to eat, we need to sleep, we need shelter from storms, we need to run when attacked by man eating lions......etc.....
Now.....Ego has a very important task and is a very important aspect of ourselves. Without it we could not exist in this plane....it is a part of our duality.....and duality is what 3D is all about.......(we can discuss the lessons of duality another Time and Place....LOL Sorry......couldn't resist )
OK........Unfortunately, somewhere along the way (and I won't get into details here) we descended way too far into physicality and duality (the fall from Grace) and forgot that we are Spiritual and Ego took over. We began to believe that we are our Ego and that is all we are. Ego got lost in control and is now afraid of being lost if we remember who and what we truly are.......Spiritual Beings experiencing physicality as sparks of the Divine Whole.........
Our job now is to remember who and what we are....Wake Up to this fact, take responsibility for it and bring ourselves back together as first..one human being which consists of a spiritual aspect and a physical aspect and then to Wake Up to the responsibility that we are All One... and bring that being, both Spiritually and Physically back to the Source and continue our part in the Creation.
I hope this doesn't seem too off course in this topic, but I have been wanting to share this with you all and this seemed like the best place and time to do it.
Thanks.....
Love, Light and Blessings,
Namaste

Hi my friends,
I found all your comments interesting thank you, please forgive my less informed reply.. I have never heard of the "Prophets" untill James mentioned them, when I get time I might look them up out of curiosity...Life as I see it is one huge classroom, full of teachers and pupils. Sometimes we're the teachers, sometimes we're the pupils...Most of us are just getting through the best way we know how...I think most of us cope ok and our dark side isn't anything to be too alarmed about.....Because we're emotional/physical beings the envioronment that surrounds us can play a great part in how we respond to dark/light. It isn't easy to consciously rid any dark thoughts. Tiredness, injustices, all sorts of things can effect the way our emotions respond to dark/light....I believe we all have moments and thats ok, we are human/ spirits after all..or is it the other way round.lol..I believe the worry is more towards the extremes rather than the normal human /spiritual hiccups....Always to listen to our instincts when faced with extreme belief systems.....only my opinion of course......"God"/Creator...energy/consciosness...Is pure love..think about It........Love, Peace, and Joy to you all.......kak.....

Thanks Kak once again for the peace in your words. I think the middle ground to all this, the part that is most important to understand (for me anyways) is that we need to be on guard and know that we could be “reacting” to life from our deep subconscious instead of “reacting” to life from our higher self. Just this awareness alone, is the method of eliminating it from happening again or for nipping it at the bud.
Thanks,
James
Greetings,
James,
I was surfing the forum threads and ran across this old one and thought you might get a kick out of some recent personal developments of mine.
I will try to condense this.......
Like I stated in this thread, I learned about 'The Prophets', Mark and Elizabeth Claire, many years ago, looked into it briefly and decided it was not for me. Over the years though, I studied about the Ascended Masters, the Violet Flame and the Cosmic Heirarchy from different sources, so I am not unfamiliar with what 'The Prophets' and their organization speak of. What is so interesting, and even humorous now, is that recently, just over a week ago, I met a lady here in my local area who has studied intensely for the last ten years with an organization that is to some extent affiliated with The Summit Lighthouse, and her and I really hit it off and have become fast friends already.
Like I stated, I just thought you might see the irony in this situation and find it humorous............I know I did when I reread this thread.....LOL
