I have wondered many times growing up whether or not there is truly life after death. I encountered many beliefs over my years from various religions, and although I have always kept an open mind, found none of them felt right in my heart.
After alot of soul searching, and experiencing the passing of both of my terminally ill parents (I was their care takers for 10 years), and seeing some of what they experienced in their semi-comatose state, I do feel I have found my answer. My belief is : Yes, there is.
i am extremely grateful for growing up in a christian but not fanatic environment, so that there were few questions to torment my young heart: i had already received the answers. yes, there is life after death. and it's a great thing that heaven is such a mysterious place, where out of this world happiness happens. it makes it an incredibly luring target. so yeah, there definitely is.
I'm not sure if there is any life existing after death. I would rather feel great if there isn't any life after death, but I came across a lady who met with an accident and felt like she is flying high in sky but someone caught her legs from below and pulled her down, when she woke up just to realize that she was alive after facing the death. Such thoughts and experiences make me rethink about the matter.
I used to think that once you died that was it-you're dead. But things happened in my life that made me think otherwise. I won't go into detail but I was in an accident where I was close to death
I wonder and have asked my self this question in regards to life after death:
Does it matter? If it is true, should it change how you live? If it is not so, should it change how you live?
My point is if we live a certain way because we wish to acheive something such as life after death or even enlightenment itself then we miss the one thing we DO know to be so, and that is LIFE.
I believe the reason we don't know many of these things for sure is because if we knew, then we would not live our lives the way we should in order to learn what we will know someday. It has to be a mystery.
Just my 2 cents. Something to think about
Have a great day!

You raise some good points James. I guess it doesn't matter to some, but I have always wondered what was the purpose of LIFE and why are we here. I believe we are here by choice and we are here with a blueprint that we have designed from the otherside. Because the otherside is perfection, we return here to experience certain negativities of our choice, therefore creating enlightenment and achieving a higher spiritual ground. And if I am completely wrong, which no one knows at this point, atleast believing in something more grand than life here are earth, makes facing death alittle easier to deal with when the time comes. Enjoyed your comments, thank you.
I loved reading everybody's comments on this thread. I sometimes wonder if thinking about this topic is worth it. I mean, I can never know for myself, can I? I can only read books on the subject, and I have read many. They have all spoken about the existence of an after life. It sounds good, but then how can I know for sure unless I die? I can never have first-hand proof.
Then there are the scary Christian beliefs of heaven and hell. If you are good, you go to heaven. If you are bad, you go to hell. All that is fine! But you cannot be a human being and 100 percent good at the same time. We are bad sometimes, and we can't help it. We do make mistakes, and I feel sad that we will go to hell for it (if there is a hell, that is!).
Now, I have quit bothering about it. I want first-hand proof about it, otherwise I refuse to think about it or form opinions about it. I simply can't swallow others' opinions about it. I do love listening to other people's near-death experiences though, and I have heard many.
Never to think about where you would go after death, just one thought I guess everyone should possess in mind. Live happily, spread love and happiness around. I believe that though we are dead, we would be still alive in the tears of those who miss us and tend to get tears recollecting our memories. That is the life I wish to live rather than anything else.
I am one of those who firmly believes there is life after death. For one thing, I don't believe we (humans) were randomly placed on this earth. I know there is a purpose for all of us. After we die, I know that we will be judged for how we lead our lives based upon the principles that we learned in this life and how we chose to apply the principles or ignored them.

I'm simply curious, 1: how do you KNOW and 2: WHO or WHAT will be judging us? I'm not sure I agree with this statement, but I agree with your right to believe it.....
