Growing Things

My favorite practice is growing things. My garden is my oasis from the world. I go there to weed or just to walk and see how my plants are doing. It makes me so happy when I see a little plant sticking it's little head out of the ground. A seed that I plant will make enough food to feed my family. It's miraculous.

Re: Growing Things

Growing things give off their own energies. It is wonderful that you have such a green thumb that they can give and return energy to you. It is so soothing to be among growing plants and the earth.

Re: Growing Things

I love to grub about in the dirt and feel the life in the earth. Although, I think I over fuss because my garden doesn't always grow as well as I hope. But it's worth it for the way it makes me feel.

Re: Growing Things

I miss my small garden, we had one at the last place we lived but the ground here even though its in the same state and really not far from the last place, just seems to not want to grow anything but weeds. Maybe this will be my summer plan.

Re: Growing Things

Have you tried making compost to add to the soil? Sometimes the soil has been worn out from farming and growing flowers from earlier times. Given time the soil would probably take care of itself but if you can start a compost pile it would help to combine that with your soil to make it fertile. Also if you have somewhere you can start a worm bed, the castings can be mixed with soil for strengthening the soil and helping it to recover.

Re: Growing Things

I love to grow things. Alas, my soil isn't in the best shape either. I wonder what has happened to it. It is almost devoid of life and a very hard, clay type soil. I know it needs something but I don't want to put chemicals in it. I may try your suggestion Asreal.

Re: Growing Things

An oasis all to myself would be great. I have always wanted some small area in the yard that would be my own little area. My issue with that (besides lack of space), bugs, I feel like I am allergic to just about anything out there.

Re: Growing Things

I have been thinking about this more and more lately and for some reason I do not get it. People who are lucky to have space never use it proper and those of us who need and could use it proper do not have it. Its like a random thing, in every place I have lived its been like this.
