This is a transcript from a Skype conference November 19th between Oneness Centre Nordic and Bhagavan at the Oneness University regarding the current turmoil within Oneness University's organization.

Bhagavan, can you tell us a little bit about the current situation?

First of all, it’s the first time I’m doing this kind of a conference call, I’m just amazed at this technology, because I’ve never been exposed to this! The question is what is the current situation? The current situation is Krishna came and met me and they were saying that what they were doing was good for the movement, but I could not agree with that and my stand remains unchanged. So they feel that what they are doing is good for the movement. I could not see it like that. So my stand continues to be the same. That is the current situation.




Bhagavan, there are some people in the south of Sweden who are having a prep course for 50 – 60 people, the Oneness Experience course, in a few weeks. What do you think we should do about the fee, should it be for free or should they charge?

First thing is, when they do these courses, there must not be any videos. People could understand and digest the contents in the videos, make it their own based on their life experiences, and it should become their truth and from that they must talk. If it’s only a video, it is speech, it is not work. Work has a special power of transforming people and that must come from the person who’s talking there, that is the live person who is conducting the course, he must base it on his life experience, he must discover that and he must talk. So I would say that there should be no videos. That is the first thing.

The second thing is, with regards to the fees, I would say it is left to the discretion of the trainer. Suppose he goes to a poor locality, where people can not afford, he might have to do it free. Suppose he goes to a place where people can afford, he must fix such charges whereby it will meet all his expenses. And sometimes he can also charge more for his own survival. That depends on the person who’s conducting the course. I want the person to have the freedom. Not Oneness spiculating conditions. Oneness’s job is just to train people and let them go. They have to be on their own. They can organize themselves if they want to. What rules they want to form is their business. We as a body here should, we not interfere in these matters. Our only job is to keep training people and finally fade out from the scene, because we are a group of monks and monks should not prey on significance or power or anything for that matter. Monks should actually fade away after it’s work is done. Our work is only training the trainers, that’s all. It’s not that we should come there, we should conduct our courses. That way the local place will never really develop. Unless the local people do the courses themselves, they organize things for themselves without any outside interference, the dharma or the movement can not grow.

I have seen people from around the world who have taken oneness principles, adapted them, and do wonderful courses. I have been pointing out this and said, “to be in tune with oneness, the trainer must have complete freedom”. The trainer must not be restricted by a video or instructions from the headquarters. No. And regarding the fee structure, it’s only general guidance. Keep it free or charge enough so that you meet your expenses. And in case you’re a full-timer who’s dependent on that, then charge to the extent that you can survive. It should not be a means to become a wealthy person or this or that. It should be a means for survival. That is all.

And as the monks are concerned, they are not to go out and do courses. If they do, the local people will not grow, will not flourish. So their job is only to train and then quietly and anonymously leave the scene. This has been a tradition in India. There have been hundreds of great thinkers and spiritual giants who are the founders of Hinduism, but nobody knows their names, nobody knows where they lived. They just gave their teachings and then they became anonymous and faded away from the scene. That has been the tradition and Oneness also has the same principles: fade away from the scene. Otherwise it is going to become a cult, it will start controlling people in various ways and it will be creating more trouble to the world than good. As we see all these religions, what are they doing? They are causing more harm than good. And we’ll be adding one more to this whole list of cults and groups and religions. So I do not want that to happen. I want to see it dissolve in my lifetime, when I am healthy and strong, not when I become old. I want to have a set timetable for this and for me the timetable is 2014. In 2014 we should cease to exist. This is my stand. This has always been my stand. It is not a new stand. It has always been my stand. There used to be a big board in Satyaloka, in Jeevashram, at the entrance, which said, “This place exists to set man totally and unconditionally free”. That has been my life. I have been working for that. How could I move away from that? But of lately, I see things are moving in that direction, where “Oneness” is becoming like a structure. The “O” is a capital letter, I don’t know why it’s a capital letter, which means it’s an institution in itself. These are principles, it cannot be an institutition. And it can not be a controlling body. Oneness is a set of principles, like mathematics, chemistry and biology – that’s all. That can not be institutionalized. This is my stand.

According to the guides who have now stepped out of the order, so to speak, they will continue just like before. Please give us some clarification for that.

Let us say that you are running Bofors company. You are the boss of Bofors and you appoint a manager for Bofors in South America. Then after some time he makes some changes and he claims that he is the owner of Bofors. Would you agree to that?

No.

Same thing here. They have been sent out as monks, my monks, to do some particular work and come back. Now you are not a monk anymore. You do not represent me anymore. So what right have you to continue the work? You have left me. You are not in the order. This work is supposed to be done by monks. You are no more a monk. You’re a normal person and you have gone out there as my representative to do my courses. I have been training, these are my courses and now since you have left me, how can you continue with it? What right have you got; morally, ethically, legally? What are your rights? You have no rights whatsoever.

That is why I call this a coup. I hope you understand the word coup.


What was that Bhagavan? Coup?

See, for example, in Africa and Asian countries, some general will overthrow the ruler, the president or the prime minister or the elected person, and take over reigns into his own hands. Like in Pakistan, Musharraf took over the reigns from the democratically elected president, but he’s not in a break-away group. It’s a coup because they hold the properties, they hold all the money with them, they hold the website. I do not even have a website. It’s all under their control like you capture a radiostation. So I’m literally not able to communicate with the world, because you people happen to call up I’m able to communicate. So it is like a takeover, it’s like a coup, you have no right to stay on in Italy or in England, because you’ve moved away from me. You’ve cut the cord. You’re on your own. So how do you represent me? What is the right you have? You don’t have anything at all. But you continue to say you are Oneness. You say AmmaBhagavan’s blessings are there. You say you have AmmaBhagavan’s permission, there’s no permission. And you continue to do Oneness there. What right have you got? You’re taking the people for a ride. This is what is happening.


Thank you Bhagavan for this clarification.
Bhagavan, my name is Micke and I’m a part of the youth trainer team together with Elias from Germany, Daniel and Rochana from Italy and so on. What I want and what some other youth trainers want also, is to go through a much deeper process of awakening. We went through the 21-day process, the level 2 process and the trainer course, but we feel we want to attend a much more powerful process with you. I heard of a process where you are in a dark room for a long time with many deekshas and so on. Is that process being offered by you or is that the level 3?

See, level 3 is basically interacting with me. What I have been telling them is, “Instead of you people going out of India and doing these courses, come back to India. Let us focus on the trainers. Time is running out. Let us not go about doing an LIO course or this course or that course. Let us get the trainers here, let us work on them, let us develop them. They will go and take care of the world. It’s not our business to take care of the world. Our work is to train the trainers”. But they’re doing exactly the opposite.

Level 3 is people coming to India and interacting with me on a daily basis, in the temple or in the World Oneness Centre, and part of that would be the dark room process. That is Level 3. What they were saying was, “If you’re going to ask them to come to India, you are making it into a cult”. My argument was, “If I saw you must come to India! You must meet me! Then it’s a cult. All I’m saying is, you’re welcome to come to India and you’re welcome to talk to me. If that is the case how does it become a cult?”

At this level, only I’ll be able to talk. It’s beyond them. They’ve not been given the training. They do not have that knowledge. It’s I that has to interact with the trainers and develop them further. Why is it they don’t like the idea of people coming here? Why is it they should be stopped there itself? This has been puzzling. And I’ve said 2012 is coming now. We’re only few people in number. Let us gather together. We have to start meditating here in the temple and that has to be skyped all over the world. We must gather and meditate. That’s why we have built the whole temple itself or what we call the World Oneness Centre. They are not for all these things. Time is running out, we have to improve. The time is very, very fast. We have to put more power into them, more teachings into them. They have to realize these teachings and talk from there. It’ll have a tremendous effect.

But instead of that they want to start big, big LIO’s all over the world and they say soon it will be 5000 people, then 10 000 people, then 30 000 people. Do we need all those people? Why these big numbers? We’ll only become a better known cult in that case, we’ll become a dominating force, we’ll be controlling people. That’s not what we want. We don’t want that many people, we don’t want that much amount, where do we put all those things? We just have to work on our trainers. Pick up the good ones. They say “Oh, they’re not up to the mark”. Why not? If they’re not up the mark, let’s work on them, let’s improve them. There are wonderful trainers also. We can update the knowledge. If so many of them go and do courses it will not become a cult. And I said, give them complete freedom. They can add and subtract anything from oneness. Oneness is not the only format.

Oneness is like sugar, you can add it to coffee, tea, in chocolate, whatever you want. That is how we have to prevent this from becoming a cult. We as an organisation should slowly dissolve ourselves. What they are doing is, they’re destroying oneness. They’re doing something which is not oneness. If you’re going to control the trainer, it is not oneness. If you give a video and control him, that is not oneness. If you’re going to tell how much money to collect, that much should go to the local body, that to this body, that to headquarters - that is not oneness. If the Oneness Trainer does not come from his own insights, that is not oneness. If the Trainer does not have the freedom to add and subtract, that is not oneness. Whereas the monk, he has to stick to something. When they do the courses, they have got to stick to it, because that is what we are giving. We can’t do it in a hundred different ways. That will confuse people. But let people make use of it in a hundred different ways. That is what we are telling.

And another thing is, I told them, “Please come back to India”. What is the problem with coming back to India? This problem is only with those dasas who left India. Not the dasas in India. The only problem with the Indian dasas have been those who have been conducting elite courses. Who stay in elite homes, move with the elite. They are the ones who have gone out. Because I said, “Make those courses free in India”, I said “India is a poor country. There are millions who can never afford these courses in their lives”. And when I said this they were most unhappy about it. Now, we are monks, why do you want all that money? Money we might need for some reasons, that’s all. But then we ought to focus on the poor people. Why is it being such an anathema that you don’t want to mix with the poor? Are we some snobbish people? We’re only monks, that’s all.

So whatever I have been proposing, they don’t seem to be liking it. Once they have gone west, they don’t want to come back to India. And I’ve considered all that and said “OK, alright, be there until 2010 or the beginning of 2011, then you’ve got to come back. Because there is one year after that, we have to work very, very hard”. We have told the whole world, 2012 something is going to happen. We said in the temple we’ll meditate, we’ll pass on energies. But you’re not willing to come back here, not willing to send people here. What is going on? Why should you stay back in the west? If you’re going to stay back in the west, then why the trainers then?” The trainers are the ones doing all the hard work, they’re going out, meeting people, convincing them. They should be given more power. It is their job, not ours. What is the idea of camping in the west, wanting to stay on in Italy or wanting to stay on in Fiji, wanting to be out there and conducting these LIO’s and all this kind of stuff? Is that our work? Our work is spiritual work. Keep them probably in the dark room, make them meditate, meditate along with them, keep them in the temple, give them the insights; that is Level 3, that is the next preparation.

When I said 2014 we must be out of the scene, we must become anonymous slowly. Now if you’re going to do huge LIO programmes, how do you become anonymous? It means we are building ourselves up. I want the reverse thing to happen. The building up is only of the individual, not Oneness as a movement or an organisation. All those hundreds of trainers, they have to be built up.

*Unclear name* is there, for example, he is a follower of Rajneesh. And in his courses he combines oneness so beautifully and it’s so very effective. I’ve seen many other people. *Unclear name* for example, they mix up oneness in their courses, it’s so wonderful it is. That’s how it has to go. Why should they only stick for oneness? There is no need for that.
These have been my arguments and they don’t like it. For whatever reason, I do not know and I don’t understand why they want to stay back in the west. And I don’t understand why these LIO’s. That is not our kind of stuff. We are spiritual people. Oneness is simply a simple equation. Oneness is equal to psychology plus spirituality. If you remove spirituality, it is mere psychology. That is not oneness. Oneness is all about bringing the Divine into human consciousness. Harnessing Divine energies for sorting out your problems; be there financial, health, relationship or whatever you want to achieve. And now I find, the spiritual dimension is slowly being faded out. I can see it happening in Dubai, I can see it happening in Korea. In different countries they are doing it differently, but they’re phasing out the spirituality. My whole work has been to bring the Divine back into human consciousness. Because for the last few centuries we have been losing that touch with the Divine; be it a Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim or a Buddhist. I said let us bring Divinity back into their lives, for a Christian in a Christian way, for a Muslim in a Muslim way, for a Buddhist in a Buddhist way. Let them get back in touch with their own faith, their own divine nature, whatever the divine is called in that particular faith.

That is like harnessing solar energy for other purposes, like harnessing wind power, let them harness Divine energies. But why is it Divine energy is fading away? Slowly they are saying it’s something secular. Am I not secular? I have met people from all creeds in the world, they’ve been so happy to talk to me. There’s no problem at all.

If Dalai Lama continues to be a monk, he continues to be aTibetan Buddhist, but nobody would call him a cult figure. People respect and love him. So the whole fact is, they are saying, “we must remove the spiritual dimension” and without my knowledge, without telling me, it is being phased out. Then what is this work all about? If it’s only a psychological course, there are far better courses than this. The beauty about this course is, it harnesses Divine energies. It is psychology plus spirituality. But I see slowly, very subtly, very carefully, very gently, they are doing it. In some countries, they are going with great force. In some countries, they’re very careful. Where there are alot of trainers and others, they’re more careful. Where there are no trainers, they’re very, very fast, they’re racing through.

So this is against the very nature of oneness. We hope that by 2012, man and God or whatever form, he can call it the universe or some energy, whatever he wants, he should get in touch with the transpersonal, that which is beyond the person, which we call the transpersonal. He must get in touch with it. So the whole thing is being destroyed and I call this “destruction of oneness”. What I want is “dissolution of oneness”. That’s exactly where the difference lies.


Thank you so much for the beautiful clarifications. Alot of people talk about enlightenment, Bhagavan, and they are wondering what is this state, and are the dasas enlightened. Could you say something about this?

Yes. See, first of all we must make a distinction between the enlightened state and enlightenment itself. The enlightened state almost all dasas have had. That is, the state comes and the state goes. What we call the kundalini, when it is up, as long as it is up, you are in an enlightened state. When it comes down, you lose that state. And it can not always be up. It depends upon so many factors. For example, if the kundalini is up in the morning, let’s say 6 o’ clock, very, very high, and when you see a dog, you might feel that you are the dog. You might hug the dog, kiss the dog, you might do all those things, because that is so real for you, because you see that you are the dog, you and the dog are not separate because the kundalini is inside. Towards the evening when the kundalini goes down, suppose by some chance it goes down, you might very well kick the same dog. So, in the morning your behavior could have been loving and kissing the dog, now it could be kicking the dog. So, this is the enlightened state.

Now, by enlightenment, we do not mean something that comes and goes. That is permanent. That is you have become a transformed being, a better human being. You are very naturally kind, you are very naturally compassionate, naturally there’s no conflict in you, there’s peace in you, there’s reduced thought noise, there’s not much thought chatter in the head, so you feel very calm, you feel very peaceful, you seem to feel connected to people – not that you feel you are that person, that is when the kundalini rises. When the kundalini is not up, but you are enlightened, you are clearly a better human being, who has peace in the heart, who has no conflict, who has inner integrity. I can of course go on, we actually have about 108 qualities. For each one of them, if you have, you can be declared enlightened. For example, if you can experience reality as it is – you’re enlightened. If you clearly realize that there’s no thinker but only thought, then also you are enlightened. Now for example, Ramana is enlightened, Buddha is enlightened, Sri Aurobindo is enlightened, Ramakrishna in India is enlightened – I’m just giving a few names. But all these things are very different kinds of enlightenments. The two can not be called to be the same.

What we are talking is, we are listing out these qualities, and we are telling, “Let us acquire as many of these as possible, so that you know in turn would be able to affect the world, you in turn would be able to transform the world”. For example, 2012, all that we are saying about 2012 is, in 1989 the new age was concieved, when the energies shifted. That was when this phenomenom began. And not just this phenomenom, many phenomenom were born in the world at that time. I have personally met these people and I know what happened to them, like what happened to me.

And as all of you know, that was the year when the Berlin wall collapsed and communism came down, the Tiananmen Square in China and so many other things happened . There was a definite change of energies in the year 1989.

What we are saying is, in 2012, that child which was concieved is going to be delivered. It’s going to be another big shift in energies. When energy shifts happen, people’s perception very easily changes. So that is when, whoever wants to bring about a change have the best chance, especially after 2012. Suppose you are an environmentalist, you can bring about environmental changes. Suppose you are in education, you can bring about changes in education. Those who work in the fields of health or medicine, can bring about changes there.

Suppose you are a spiritual person, you could bring about changes in the spiritual sphere. And in the spiritual sphere, there are many, many people working now. But whatever field you work, whoever is working, there must be 64 000 people who’s perception has been changed, only then there will be a global impact. It will be impossible to talk to everybody and do everything. You have to build up. Whoever wants to do this work, anybody on this earth, whether he wants to do with heath or with the environment, 64 000 are very crucial, that is a number which affects human consciousness.

All that we are saying is, let us get 64 000 people, work on them, either through Skype or the center here, let us elevate their levels of consciousness, with that the work is done. You don’t need an organization, you don’t need an LIO and go around the world and be talking all those things. This part of 64 000, many countries have fulfilled their quota.

We are in fact racing into that. The trainers are doing an excellent job. If we do that, then we could influence people’s perception in the year 2012. But that is not the end of the story. Thereafter it continues on its own. We don’t have to do anything. We are not the ones who are going to change the energies, thats a natural phenomenom. All that we are going to do is, we are going to make use of that, to help people get closer together, to feel connected, to feel more calm, more peaceful, which is what we call enlightenment.

So anybody can make use of it. Like if we have electricity, we can all speak on the phone now, we can see a video film, we can run an electric motor, we can light up a bulb. So the energies are there available, in 2012 it’s available. If we are ready for that, we can do a grand work. If we fail in 2012, OK, it may be in 2013 or 2014, but why go on postponing? This is not an unachieveable target. That is all I’m saying.

That way, there are dasas who are enlightened, who are transformed people, who do not get hurt, who do not react, who are very calm and peaceful and no conflict inside them. There are enlightened people, not only among dasas, even among ordinary people. The only problem with them is, they do not make noise. They’re virtually living anonymously, there’s no craving in them. They’re living very quiet lives. They can give an insight here to somebody and insight there to somebody, helping somebody because a truly enlightened man will not make noise. He will not propagate himself. He will not try to acquire significance. Nothing will be there. Unfortunately, these people are very quiet, silent people. And the ones who make lot of noise, are mistaken to be the ones who are very capable of. So there are enlightened dasas and there are also enlightened people. But they may or may not be in an enlightened state, sometimes they get the state, sometimes they do not have a state, but enlightenment remains. They are awakened people.

What is disease?

What is disease? It is not a thing to be removed, expelled, subdued, broken up, cured or killed. It is not a thing, but an action; not an entity, but a process; not an enemy at war with the organism, but remedial action, a remedial effort; not a substance to be opposed, but an action to be left alone. We are responsible for our own illnesses

"Medical science does not include enervation in its etiology; it knows nothing of the inhibition of excretion that enervation produces and of the toxemia that results from inhibited excretion. We say that toxemia, which grows out of inhibition of excretion, is the universal basic cause of disease; but we also say that toxemia has many causes. Waste in the bloodstream - acute disease
"There is at all times a normal amount of waste matter in the blood stream. This becomes a menace to health only when it is allowed to accumulate above a certain physiological maximum."
"When it accumulates above this point, the body establishes a channel of supplementary excretion to remove the waste matter from the fluids of the body - sudden and fierce fevers, severe inflammations, etc." H. Shelton, 1968, ch. 19.


Tissue deterioration - chronic disease
"With the passage of time, the tissues harden and lose their original sensitivity. ... Inflammations, fevers, etc., are less fierce, last longer and are less effective in resisting the sources of irritation."
"The longer toxemia has lasted and the more tissue deterioration has resulted, the greater is the time required for a return to health. Established as a chronic state ..., toxemia itself lowers and impairs the functioning of all the organs of the body." H. Shelton, 1968, ch. 19.


Deficiencies
"We are all more or less toxic to some extent ... Most bodies can handle a large degree of toxemia for a long time. Deficiencies damage us much more quickly. That's the difference between the two evils. ... You could be a vegetarian on a very imbalanced diet and feel good for five, seven, even ten years, but after ten years you'd start to fall apart when you have used up your reserves of B12 and D. When that happens, down you go. And once down, it is very hard to get back up." Stanley S. Bass: In Search of the Ultimate Diet

So what causes garbage to pile up (inside your body)? And cause problems...

• Either more garbage is added continually than possibly can be removed = TOXICITY
• Or your body is too tired to remove all garbage - is lacking energy = ENERVATION (LACK OF ENERGY)
• Or, something is missing - so the job goes haltingly = DEFICIENCY

Hygienic care - no drugs

"Alcott gave it as his opinion that all systems of medicine were leading us "to one grand issue." He said: "Within a short time--it may be five hundred years, for that in history is a short time, but it may be in 50--all sensible and truly learned medical men, as a general rule, will give no medicine at all." By medicine, in this instance, he meant drugs.
The vital truths of Natural Hygiene will be accepted as certainly as was the truth that the earth is round and not flat and that the earth turns on its axis and that the sun does not go around the earth. The principles of Hygiene are perhaps as representative of our modern era as the theories of Copernicus and Gallelio were of their own time." H. Shelton, 1968, ch. 56.


Go to bed, keep warm, eat less food - of better quality
"Graham's opening lecture in New York City in 1832 was on cholera and this lecture was subsequently published in book form. The success of Hygienic means both in preventing cholera and in enabling the cholera patient to recover was phenomenal. The Hygienic rule in all acute disease is a simple one: go to bed, keep warm and abstain from food until comfort returns."
"In his work on Cholera (1854) Joel Shew, M.D., says: "The diarrhea which so generally precedes the real attack of cholera should be treated like any other diarrhea, on general principles. It would be better for the individual to practice entire abstinence from all food--the hunger cure, as the Germans call it--until the diarrhea ceases." H. Shelton, 1968, ch. 27.

"In all states of impaired health (acute and chronic disease and wounds) the physiological needs of life (air, water, food, sunshine, temperature, activity, rest and sleep, etc.) must be supplied in keeping with the ability of the body to appropriate and use them." H. Shelton, 1968, ch. 33.
"Landis ... contended that Hygienic practitioners "should prescribe food--as the drug-doctors do their medicinal agents--measuring it, according to circumstances. If our tables are provided with food of improper qualities, and patients are also allowed to partake of as much as they wish, they often eat too much, thus impeding the various functions of the system, and retarding or entirely preventing any curative operation whatever. Physiological food in quantity and quality is the great panacea of a true hygeio-therapeutic or hygienic practice."


Drug relief --- wolf in sheep's clothing
"Drug relief is an enemy in disguise. It is a wolf in sheep's clothing. Drug symptoms get mixed up with symptoms of disease and the physician cannot tell one from the other. ... Confirming the contentions of Hygienists concerning the superiority of Hygienic care in pneumonia and the deadliness of drug treatment in this disease is the experience of Prof. Austin Flint, M.D., of the New York Medical College, ... asserted that in the hospital where he used no drugs, he lost no cases."

"There is not the slightest room to doubt that the frightful mortality from the "Black Death," "yellow fever," "sinking typhus," "congestive chills," smallpox, typhoid fever and pneumonia was due almost wholly to the poisoning, stimulating, narcotizing, bleeding, blistering, cauterizing, leeching, mercurializing, purging and antimonial practices of the times." H. Shelton, 1968, ch. 27.

"It cannot be too strongly emphasized that today the medical profession is confronted with obstacles and with problems which are insurmountable and insoluble. ... Increased mass sickness, the explosive developments of the so-called side effects of their new drugs, the growing number of iatrogenic (doctor-caused) diseases, the growing public distrust of their poisoning practices, and the deadly menace of their wonder drugs -- all this, and much more, constitutes an endless nightmare for all who would preserve the criminal system of poisoning the sick because they are sick." H. Shelton, 1968, ch.49.


"The Hygienist wants to know the why and wherefore of each thing that he does; the devotee of drugging shuts his eyes and swallows his medicine. --- Whereas, in medicine, the patient must have confidence, in Hygiene, the first step towards health is that of enlightening the mind. ... --- Our only mystery is the great mystery of life. All else is an open book." H. Shelton, 1968, ch.25



The major healing methods in NH

The methods in Natural Hygiene are very simple, so simple that it may be hard to believe that they will work. But usually they are far superior to any other methods. Very cheap, but very powerful. (Note: in physical trauma there may also be need for manipulation/surgery.)

One method is the same as used for a sick houseplant --- provide the best environment, the best soil, nutrition, water, sunshine - and it will recover. The key is to know what environment and food is optimal for humans, but here we can study primitive peoples more than 10,000 years ago - how they lived and what they ate.
Another method is the same as what an animal in nature would use if it ate something poisonous, or broke a leg -- just lie down, rest and sleep, don't eat, until the damage is healed - a method called "fasting".


There is always hope
Natural Hygiene teaches us to trust ourself and our bodies, to observe the body and its vital signs and use simple natural living to overcome just about all diseases (except on occasion diseases that have been allowed to go too far). Our bodies have amazing powers to recover - if we just stop standing in the way. Self-reliance is regarded as better than relying on authorities. Remember that there is always hope, no matter what you have heard.

Natural Hygienic doctors are teachers, teaching you about the factors of health - water, food, sunshine, rest & sleep, exercise, etc. - that will enable you to get truly well, and allow you to reach a high state of health. No drugs are necessary, or even acceptable (unless serious doctor-caused drug-dependency). Food supplements are inferior to fresh natural foods.

Diet

Fasting
"Fasting affords the organs of the body the closest possible approach to a complete physiological rest. Many organs are overworked and overstimulated, and hence weakened, rough the constant use of defective foods and excessive quantities of foods. ... Thus the organs are given a chance to recuperate and restore their vital powers. Repair of damaged structures may take place. Broken bones, wounds and open sores heal much more rapidly. If inflammation is present it tends to subside. The body undergoes a general healing process.

Associated with physiological rest of an organ is increased elimination. This, according to some observers, is the most important advantage of fasting. ...The surplus material on hand is utilized first. The effusions, dropsical swellings, fat, infiltrations, etc., are absorbed with great rapidity on a fast. The body thus gradually releases itself from a former burden of superfluous and waste material.

A marked improvement in nervous and mental function occurs on the fast. Max Nordau declared that "Pessimism has a physiological basis;' and it may also be said that even the most severe forms of mental aberration usually have a physiological basis. ... While fasting, all enervating influences are discontinued and the entire nervous system and brain undergoes the same physiological rest that the balance of the body experiences. Nerve forces are restored and mental powers are improved. The ability to reason is increased. The powers of attention and association are quickened while memory of past events is often recovered. I just learned today from my Baha'i sources that the World Parliament of Religions will be held in Melbourne Australia on December 3rd through 9th!

I have always been a big fan of the past World Parliaments and was curious to know if anyone here is actually planning to attend or particpate ..maybe representing "Global Oneness Community"?

The 2009 Parliament of the World's Religions will take place December 3 through December 9 in Melbourne, Australia. More than a century ago, Baha'u'llah told Baha'is to "Consort with the followers of all religions in a spirit of friendliness and fellowship." And Baha'is have been active in promoting interfaith dialogue and understanding since the mid-1800s.

A number of American Baha'is plan to participate in the 2009 Parliament, including Brian Lepard -- an international human rights law specialist and Law Alumni Professor of Law at the University of Nebraska
