CSAs

My favorite local farm just joined the CSA bandwagon. CSA stands for community sustainable agriculture. Normally for a cost or minimum amount of labor, or a combination of both, you get a share of the harvest from a farm. Ours is doing it to help out middle to low income families and is mostly labor based (although a couple wealthy families have signed up and paid). In return they will get a box of food a week from whatever is in season. I really think its great more farms are implementing such programs, even if not aimed toward income sensitive families.

I would love if there was something near us-even more if labour was involved, but there isn't. The nearest is about thirty miles away and I don't drive and so I really can't can't justify the fuel costs when I otherwise buy locally.
