US presidential election

I am so up in the air about who to vote for at this point. It looks like it is boiling down to only McCain and Obama - neither of whom I am impressed with. I'm thinking of going with Obama only as the lesser of two evils as McCain is already talking about drilling offshore as well as prolonging the "war" in Iraq, both of which I am adamantly against. Now McCain is saying he's going to "green up" the government, which I am in favor of, but I don't trust him to carry through with it. I'd love to hear thoughts from other Americans on which choice would be a better environmental choice?

Re: US presidential election

I am a big supporter of Barack Obama and for the following reason..what we need as a leader is not someone who necessarily has all the answers, but someone who has the right attitude. With the right attitude, all problems can be solved. He recognizes the problems and I believe he will put the right people on the issues as they come up.
I was so excited to see how the world reacted to him winning the nomination. It was very encouraging. Hopefully he will pick Al Gore as his Vice president.

Re: US presidential election

I find Obama to seem very arrogant in mannerism - like he's got a big chip on his shoulder. I'm also not happy with him switching positions on campaign funding when things didn't go his way. People whose principles change depending on circumstances really make me concerned about what else he will change his mind on later. I believe I will be voting for Obama, in the end, as I really don't want to see McCain in the oval office.

Re: US presidential election

Hi Serenity,
One thing I learned from this particular pre-election is that as much as we want someone in office who represents change, unless we "change" or better said "wake up" globally than nothing will happen to create a better life for all.
This global oneness we are creating by each of us "waking up" is what will change the world, no matter who takes office.
I think the support Obama has gotten shows that people are ready, they have had enough. I also think that is why we start to wake up, when we have had enough of what an ego driven life has to offer. In that context the ego has served it's purpose.

Re: US presidential election

I also am unsure who to vote for this November. I'm not comfortable with McCain and yet I have a definite uneasy feeling about Obama. I can't put my finger on what makes me feel uncomfortable but the feeling is definitely there. He says the right things but actions speak louder than words. Can we afford to give him a chance? I'm just not sure.

I am supporting Barack Obama all the way, and have been since the beginning. I think he will make a wonderful leader for our country, and I am confident that he will provide that.

Re: US presidential election

I will be voting for Obama as I think he will at least attempt to do the right thing. McCain does what is best for his and his friends' wallets. We do need to remember that no matter how good a president's intentions are, he must also adhere to what Congress says. That's why it's so important for all of us to make our Congressmen and women aware of what is important to us.

Re: US presidential election

As much as I really don't want to, I guess I'll be voting for Obama. I really wanted Hillary to win the nomination, but it just wasn't meant to be. Obama could pretty much sew up this election if he chose her as a running mate though. I think it would be a very smart decision. I can't think of a scenario that would have me voting for McCain. I grew tired of the current administration years ago, putting McCain in office would just be like asking for a Bush sequel.

Yup I couldn't agree with you more. I really wanted Hilary to win and as much as I would rather see Obama in office I have a gutty feeling it's not gonna happen.

Erm....but isn't Obama a Moslim?
"We shall inherit the Earth either by force or stealth"?
