Hey, Serenity. It's Burl. I'm glad you're on this. I'm just trying to figure out how to work this site and network. Regarding politics, you're right on. Obama is the choice I'm making, but not because I think he's wonderful. Rather, I think he's the lesser of two evils for the fact is his hands are in the pockets of many of the same folks that carry George and Dick along. I also think we need to get past our Patriarchal system of gov't which is destroying the environment, is very top-down (we're controlled more by corporations than gov't hence live in a feudal type arrangement....speaking for myself, I'm a peasant). I think, my dear Serenity, that we have to go deep within ourselves and move beyond politics. We need to start living in self-supporting communities that live upon the Earth with sacred and loving intent for past, current and future generations. I'm thinking now of developing, or linking to, a community. I just looked at land for a potential ecovillage in Bridgeton, ME. 3 million dollars but can be sold in smaller lots. The woman running this show is talking about doing her village based on the stories of Anastasia (which I've never read, but she is doing permaculture and feels that is in line with the books). My wife talked to the guy that's doing this with her (he's in Arizona) but doesn't feel as community oriented as my wife and I are. It appears he wants permaculture with a typical American suburb with little houses and little to no interaction except in important times like meetings. I guess I want strong community where women and men can work as a team in getting things done and people get into their work based on passion and skills instead of necessity. But, I'm off in another field. Glad to see you here.
Just when I think I've decided on a candidate the other one says something intelligent or my choice says something stupid. Tonight is the last debate between the two candidates. I wonder who I will be voting for. I'm no closer to deciding than I was three months ago.

From what I have just read at a couple places online it seems like most of the electorial votes have been in, counted and setup. It looks like Obama is in the hefty lead with at least 50 more than Mccain right now.
I really am not sure that Obama is the answer to all of our ills, but I certainly do think that he is the change that we need right now. He is a step in the right direction, and even the smallest step forward is worthwhile progress.

With the U.S. Presidential election set to begin in less than 24 hours I wanted to take just a moment to ask everyone to please send out meditations, thoughts, prayers, energy, good intentions; whatever form of positive you hold sway with, for the outcome to be "For the Good of All Concerned".
I have never been a politically motivated person, but I honestly feel this election has the potential to aim humanity in the right direction for creating a world of peace. So much so that I registered to vote and did so for the first time in my life.
I will not try to persuade anyone as to whom to vote for, (although I obviously have my personal opinion....LOL) except to say...Please search your soul and follow your heart. Look at the energy and the emotions the two candidates create in the core of your being, and vote for the one who inspires you to live in love and not fear.
We truly have the chance to Co-Create a world of Love and Peace and Beauty; and the first step is taking the time to be responsible and vote.

No offense here but the first thing I thought of when I read that was WTH. Seriously are we are a point that ones beliefs are bad so we can not vote for someone because of some reason that has nothing to do with the real meaning behind it.
