Help... girlfriend has been having terrible nightmares

First of all, about 2 or 3 weeks ago my girlfriend began having nightmares about being chased by zombies. I think at first they were only on an occasional basis, but last week, she had them almost every night. Friday and Sat. night, she slept fine... no zombie dreams. However, Sunday night she dreamed that she was coming under possession. She was in a house she wasn't familiar with also. Well, after a while her and whoever else was present in the dream decided to call me. This was around 3am. (I am a paranormal investigator and at one point co-hosted a paranormal talk show.) Anyway, in the dream, when I was called, I was hesitant to come over, but I ended up going anyway. When I got there, she began to go under possession again. I was sitting in a chair when it began and told everyone not to do anything and watch to see what she does.
That's about all the details that I recall about her dreams from everything she told me. These dreams are causing her to loose allot of sleep. Many of them, and I think, including the dream of possession, will wake her but continue after she goes back to sleep. So, she's waking quite a few times a night. I want to help her before they get worse or really cause some kind of disruption in her life. Just a note here, we do have a great relationship. No issues between us that I'm aware of except that we are both waiting for my ex-wife to move out of my house in a few weeks. Then I'll have a place for us all to ourselves (she lives with her mom and I live with a room mate temporarily).
Can someone please explain what these dreams mean and what can be done to help rid her of these nightmares so that she can get some sleep?
