dream or real

one day with my friends i slept near a temple(india).as it said do not sleep near temple (snake pits,here huge trees and bush no one cuts tree here), i hate that rules,at night 1pm we came there and slept, later i felt someone near me,but i cant tell whether it is a dream or not i opened my eyes half and i saw a dim white figure,still i cant say it is white or cloudy,as i feel i was dreaming but i also felt that it is real,i can see a lady coming near me,but to my eyes she is still there,i tried to call my friends but i cant,voice did not come,she then bent and she tries to catch my hand,so i hold my hands in prayer position but she still want to pull me ,i can see my friends near me the temple light all so clear,water dried in my mouth,i can feel it,then i thought of praying, but this is all happening in few seconds suddendly she pulled my hand and a voice AYE, i felt a firm grip in my hand and then nothing ,now everything felt ok,i turned to see my friends,i did not stood up,i turned and pulled my shirt over my head ,really i did not feel fear after the movement it gone,then at 5am i woke up by hearing the devotional song played in temple.still now i dont know is it in my dreams or not, i asked a person,he did not tell me anything,he then told me the reason why not to sleep .warned me not to sleep near temples.even after that i have slept there many times nothing had happeded,what is the meaning of this?

Hi karma. Interesting experience you had. I would say that it was some kind of psychic experience (perhaps a spirit trying to make contact with you) induced by your dream state. Also, perhaps there is a good reason for the rule of no sleeping next to the temple! With all the praying and other practices that go on in temples, I'm not surprised that there is a high level of psychic activity in and around them.

I found your post interesting in that I never heard a warning associated with sleeping near temples.
I went on a one day retreat to a place here in the states that had an outdoor tent style temple. I was the only one in there that day and I fell asleep on the temple floor. It was a real nice sleep and the interesting thing about that day is I was able to quit smoking after failing time and time again for the past year and haven't smoked since.
