Though I believe god would contain both masculine and feminine energies, it's to my observation, that god in simpliest terms seems to be everything, includeing things like earth and water, which do not have a sex. I think man and women is almost to selective for god to fall under one of those catagories. I cannot seem to see god in a human form. It's more or less this presence that is always around seeking it's own cosmic destiny, basically it is the one that is us.
I don't think that God is bound by gender. He isn't a human so I think that he is one of those entities that have no actual gender but are everything. Although the Bible and most people refer to God as a He so thats something to think about
I have always thought that if there is a god, it would be of some undefined gender. I think that a god would be some separate entity entirely. I have always wondered why the traditional idea of a Christian god has been referred to as a male though.
For me who is an agnostic, it does not really matter whether God is male or female. To me, God is just a concept representing what is good and as ideal for mortals to emulate.
I would say neither, since the gender has to do with duality and God is beyond duality. Or to put it in other words, male/female is something only relevant on the level of form. And since God is beyond form, he is neither. When there is only spirit, who cares for man/woman? At least, that's how I think it may be.
I agree with Grape. God is beyond male and female, It is everything - the universe and what makes up the universe - water, earth, fire, air, human beings, any kind of energy that exists. And I think it's people's responsibility to be aware of their God-self and the God that is in everything to appreciate who we are and what we've been given on this planet. We'd be much better off if everyone looked past their egos...sigh....
Well, from a Christian p.o.v., God made Adam after His resemblance. Only after Adam was 'ready', God made Eve, out of His creativity, in order for Adam to have company. It might be a sexist view, but it's the 'official' one. So God is, if anything, more like a man.
