God within or without?

Why is it that so many people feel the need, even compulsion, to find a god outside of themselves? Even those who claim to believe in no gods whatsoever seem to find something to worship (although they may not realize it).

Most people are unable to find contentment within themselves. Even those who have may have had a long road to the understanding that it is within and not without that we need to be looking, as often looking inside ourselves is unflattering and uncomfortable.

We think of the "inside" and "outside" only because the shell is there. Once the shell is gone or broken, does the distinction make any sense?

The worship of none God things really bothers me. As you say people end up worshipping something even if they don't realise it and it tends to be far more dangerous things that they worship.

There is no doubt that there is a need in many-and I don't see how most could meet that need without looking outside.

I think many people end up being confused and that is a part of the learning process. So many things are tempting and some are more weak than we end up thinking.

The need to believe that we are not tiny little things, but instead are just a part of something so much bigger is in born. If it were not, I think that religion as a whole would not exist-the vast majority of people feel this need.

The vast end up needing something and wanting to belong to something so that post Euro makes full sense. The issue tends to happen when one ends up believing to the point that they are washed up as I call it. When you believe that is fine, but when you do nothing but believe and forget to live at the same time, things like that worry me.

In my humble opinion ''God'' is within and without. Infact it cannot exisist if it isnt ''God.'' We are energy,viberation,we are connected and one with all. We are all and nothing all at once.



The wise place to start is always within,we are the journey and the destination. But we must not neglect divinity around us,while we hybernate inside. Its wise to find a balance. We must remember again our connection to nature and all creation. Working and healing inside ourselfs enables us to live our truth. Then we must reach out and reconnect with all around us. A balance looks like this.




Humanity is going through a shift were more and more are doing this now. The great transformation of light. So follow that inner urge and continue

I see it as sometimes we are with the force and sometimes we are without it. When we are with it we are whole and know all needed, but majority of the time we are without and still trying to learn the process to become whole.

Thanks a lot for the beautiful responses of yours!

I feel, I may add something more for those who may be interested. For us, what is necessary is to get connected to God Who is everywhere you can "feel" Him. To feel Him, you should be able to connect to Him. Once you get connected to Him, again, you will be able to feel Him within or without.

In my first response to this thread I made the observation that the question of within or without is there only because of the thought of being separate exists in the individual. This sense of being separate from the Absolute, from the world around, from the humanity, from the society and even from the members of one's own family is quite unreal. But it is the unreal that looks more than real to us!

We talk of the directions like the south, north, west and east as well as up and down. But these are all quite relative terms. Once you are in the outer space, there is no up and down, south or north. Here on the earth what decides it is the earth's gravitaional reach and geographical considerations. Once we are not in the field of the earth's gravity, all considerations of directions become meaningless.

Imagine a soap bubble soaring up and drifting along with the wind. If it has a consciousness that identifies itself with the air inside, that is what the individual is. Once when the bubble bursts and the air inside gets mixed with the air outside all considerations of its individual consciousness become irrelevant.

Likewise, when we are outside the field of the individual consciousness, we become one with all, and the differentiation related to inside and outside becomes meaningless. It boils down to "God is everywhere". Finally when we get liberated from all that is, what is is IS! There won't be the question of "What" or "Who" or "Where".

So, in my opinion what is more essential is to get connected to Him rather than try to locate Him, because once you get connected to Him you can locate Him everywhere!
