Learning or Remembering?

I am curious.
In our quest to become enlightened spiritual beings, do most of you think we are learning thing we have never known before? OR... Are we remembering things we have always known? OR.... Do most of you think it is a combination of the two? OR... is it neither?

Love, Light and Blessings,

Namaste

Re: Learning or Remembering?

I think it is a combination of the two. I believe that in the first couple years of our life, we forget all our spiritual knowledge while we are preoccupied with learning our physical existence. Then as we grow older we rediscover our prior knowledge, and build upon it. That, I believe, is the point of living.

Re: Learning or Remembering?

I guess I've never thought of it specifically, but my intuition agrees with kaia. I am a person who believes we reincarnate until we reach enlightenment, so I am guessing we build upon previous knowledge, not start all over again each time.

Re: Learning or Remembering?

I also believe it is a combination of the two. I often reflect on things I once learned, but I am always learning new things that open my eyes to new ways of thinking every day.

Re: Learning or Remembering?

I am going to agree that it is a combination of the two. We intuitively remember things, but we are never done learning. Which is probably a good thing as it keeps us from being to egotistical.

I'm afraid I do not agree at all here. In the first couple of years of our lifes is when we know who we are- it is the closest we ever are to being pure spirit. We explore the world around us whole-heartedly but do not try to possess or destroy. We are just curious and what to be a part of it. As we grow up, we become more and more "corrupt" and lose our way. If you manage to keep the feelings of wonderment and love you had as a child for everything - then you are well on your way to being an "enlightened" adult.

Re: Learning or Remembering?

I think that when it comes to spirituality we are simply remembering things that were suppressed by our sinful nature. We are meant to know our creator-the most innocent of things do.

Re: Learning or Remembering?

I choose Learning as I have yet to remember anything fully that I knew could be done/I could do/etc before hand. Then again I might be having memory issues too so I am not really sure on this one, hard poll!
