Well, It is important more now than it was when I was younger because I have two children to support. As far as if I had alot of it, I don't think I would be any happier than I am now. Money to me is essential to pay my bills and feed and clothe my family. If we have extra left over to have family outings that's awesome, if we don't that's ok too. We can enjoy spending time with each other at home just as well.
I am glad you said it like that wahmom.
In the present times I find there is more and more the inclination to equate and sometimes even replace important things in life with money.
Happiness is bought with money, love is too, so is merit, one can even get a life with money !
What it all comes down to is one real big materialistic life, which does seem hollow but doesn't make it any less sought after either.
Money is more of a secondary commodity in my life. Yes it pays the bills and allows me to live, but should I have less/none of it I would still be able to survive. What I cannot do without is my sense of spirituality and who I am and how I treat others.
Money is a necessity to get the bills paid and to be able to do some of the fun thing sin life, but it is not the top priority in my life. We make enough to pay the bills and go away every now and again, and that is fine by me. I don't need anything lavish.
I definitely have to agree its good to have to pay bills and echange goods, but there are still plenty of communities in which you could live and simply exchange goods/services for what you need. Money is after all only payment for goods/services from people who have nothing you'd like in return or not enough of what you need in return.
Money has never been that important to me. I'd much rather be happy in my place of employment (which makes my life happier in general) than to have a job that I make great money, but dread going to everyday.
I've had jobs like that and I won't do that again.
I have a job now where I make very little money, but I love the environment and the people here and that's why I stay.
I use money to pay my bills and care for the ones I love. I use what I have to the best of my ability and try to be faithful with the resources I have been provided with. If I had more money, I would help those in need and give to worthy causes.

We live frugally because we have to. Money for us is just the thing that helps us get the things we need to live, but it doesn't give us the things that make life worth living: happy family life, experiences in nature, and the quite reflective moments are all free.
I cannot but say quite clearly that money is important to me. However I find that more and more of the things I want aren't for sale. There have been times when having money has tilted the scales in my favour but it does leave a bad taste in the mouth for sure !
